United name squad for Under-19 competition
Manchester United have confirmed a 13-man squad for this week's Sparkasse & VGH Cup tournament in Germany.
The players involved include Tahith Chong - the scorer of a stunning goal at Old Trafford in last month's FA Youth Cup defeat to Southampton - plus Angel Gomes and Ethan Hamilton, who both netted in the Under-18s' final fixture before Christmas, a thrilling 3-2 win at West Brom.
Academy coach Kieran McKenna is in charge of the team for the indoor Under-19s competition with the youngsters keen to show off their skills in a different environment.
United are in a group containing Mainz, Hamburg, Nieste/Staufenberg, Weper, Sparta Gottingen and Hainberg/Grone - the latter will provide the opposition in the opening match on Thursday night.
The event stretches into the weekend and the Reds are entering it for the first time after winning a similar tournament in 2015, when goalkeeper Joel Castro Pereira captained the side to success.
