Crazy pills. Lots of them.

Exactly, definitely not a red card. Here's the replay for OP's convenience.

I've watched it a couple of times. 3s, 10s, and 16s, he's off the ground.

what kind of crazy pills... ;)

I really don't think so. Feghouli flew into him.

And he flew into Feghouli.

If anything they both deserve a yellow each.

Jones never left the ground.

[–]SeasickSykes"Hello Hi Goodnight" 1

Look, his feet might have been off the ground, but his studs were down there was no malitious intent, it was a soft landing (with one leg tucked slightly behind), the impact was milked, it was a 50-50, and if Feghouli had been planted instead, his leg would've been snapped by Jones. Both deserve a yellow.

Every critic under the sun is saying that it wasn't a red, and every layman the very same. You've asked us our opinion, and you've got that but keep arguing the same point.

Yea, but Jones flew into him too. That really doesn't matter much. Jones tackle is no worse than Feghouli's, it just goes his way because he gets to the ball comfortably first.

There's absolutely no issue whatsoever with the way his feet are. A massive portion of sliding tackles look like that, off the ground because players are stretching. They normally don't result in a collision like this, which makes it look worse than most tackles of that nature.

[–]SeasickSykes"Hello Hi Goodnight" 1

Exactly, now if both feet were off the ground like Rojo's were, Dean would've have sent Feghouli back to Valencia.

There is an issue though. Both feet are not allowed to be off the ground when making a sliding tackle, otherwise it's not a sliding tackle.

If we start sending players for literally having both feet off the ground, and nothing else, there'll be 6 or 7 red cards every game.

They both flew in to be fair and Ferghouli was slightly off the ground yes. I think this is why he got the red.

But it was also one footed and the studs weren't showing, he didn't lunge or jump in really. Straight reds like that are about dangerous play and it was very soft considering how tame the challenge was. I think a yellow would be understandable but a red is very harsh.

This is exactly what I'm saying. I agree it's harsh, and he did his best to pull his foot back in, but he shouldn't be off the ground in the first place. And it's hard to say it's tame when you see the pain Jones was in, and I think we can all agree he's not the type to exaggerate.

Dude I thought the same, I still think it's a red, but what do I know, I'm no expert.

[–]YouAreAGoatJose Mourinho 1

Just watched a few times myself. On one hand, he's jumping and it was reckless. On the other, his feet were pulled back and he was challenging for the ball.

I don't really think many of us would have been too bothered if that had been a yellow, and I think Dean lost control of the match after that - he was very inconsistent with his decisions after that point.

I'd have been fine with a yellow as well, it is harsh on Feghouli, but I don't think it's this crazy ridiculous decision by the referee either. We needed a slow-mo replay as well, what would Dean have seen? Feghouli off the ground and late.

[–]SeasickSykes"Hello Hi Goodnight" 0

Here's an interesting take on Dean as a hard nosed ref, and the decision to send Feghouli off. I agree mostly. It should clear this shite up as well, it wasn't a red.

I think he won't get his ban lifted because you can make a case that is was a red card by the strict letter of the law.

It's because he leaves the ground with both feet that it's a red. Referees are becoming stupid. There is no common sense involved whatsoever. He destroyed that game last night, it's not dangerous, it's not cynical.

But to be fair the law book does state if the player lifts both feet off the ground he is no longer in control of himself and therefore causes a danger to other players. Which is a rule created by men who don't and have never played football, maybe the rule makers fault as much as the referees

I just hate this shit is even up for discussion these days.

Are you saying we should aswell differ between "controlled 2 feet of the ground" and "uncontrolled 2 feet off the ground" tackles? Its you sir, you obviously never played football.

No its actually the rule. First time I heard it stated was when Mascherano done it to us in 2007. I never said it was me who made up that rule, how on earth do you actually think that?

Sorry for the shit source but it is a FIFA rule. So next time don't come talking shit without doing your research. The bottom of the article explains the rule

It's a matter of opinion, I didn't think it was red though

Nah he should have been sent off because he was playing against us

Any advantage for us I'm happy with
