No you see free speech is only for saying things like flag burning should be illegal and trans are mentally ill and trump is going to MAGa. Anything else is not free speech but actually hitler speech and should not be allowed.

Are you referring to Adam Saleh being kicked off the plane? That guy is notorious for fake shit, so that's probably a hoax.

Came out as a hoax yesterday. So he actually is ruining people that have legitimate race issues.

I don't care about a black man convincing people to not be racist cuz racism against white people is a much bigger problem.

I just got banned from that sub for vocally unsubscribing (and telling the mod it's irresponsible to sticky his own unrelated bullshit). Which is weirdly vindictive -- it's like telling me I'm fired after I've already quit.

Edit: I now see that the mod posts in subredditcancer. Never mind. The funny thing is I only subscribed to UpliftingNews because Ellen Pao was also subscribed there. I thought I'd get some nice fluff pieces to offset the shit that is Reddit dot com. How wrong was I? Very wrong, turns out.

I've never seen one person fuck up a sub so badly. There used to be new posts, people would comment on the posts and have discussions and arguments and jokes and stuff, it was pretty alright. Now you've got a stagnant sub because everything new gets removed and the only comments you're allowed to make have to be boring memes or mod fellatio

      Casual racism against black people?

Reddit: Wow, what an unexpected comment! The genius of your use of words is unmatched, upvoted!

Shitty MTV advertisement no one really cares about mocking white people?

Reddit: Please take a moment from talking about this uplifting incident to focus on the real issues; i.e., racism against white people.

Is the MTV video really mocking anything?

These people lose all critical thinking skills as soon as something they don't like happens.

It's like when a person makes a joke about "killing all men" or whatever. Suddenly everything that person says is 100% serious and not at all a joke, no seriously you guys she is totally talking about killing all men!

thing is, the video was way more tame than even that, and that's why I'm so shocked that they're so offended.

The difference is that one has an agenda, the other doesn't.

      What is MTV's agenda?

The agenda of the regressive left. The race-baiting, white-hating, safe-spacing, Franchesa Ramsey driven agenda. Watch a few episodes of MTV Decoded, a series so insanely racist they actually had to come out with a damage control video saying they're not racist- which is chock full of racism. I'm not saying I agree with the mod stickying the video he did in the thread he did, but MTV is a racist shithole at this point.

Edit: Man, I would have thought a so-called self aware sub would be smarter than this. Maybe I'm missing the point of the sub (I got here from /r/all) but holy shit, I really thought MTV's racism was pretty obvious to everyone.

I was only 16 years old. I loved communism so much, I had all the treatises and propaganda posters. I prayed to Marx every night to thank him for the dialectical materialism I had been given. "Workers of the world unite," I said, "you have nothing to lose but your chains." My boss hears me, and calls me a tankie. I knew he was jealous of my commitment to the revolution. I called him a reactionary fascist. He slaps me and sends me to work for a wage. I'm crying now, and I'm alienated from my labor. I lay in my bed, and I'm poor. A warmth is moving towards me. I feel something touch me. It's Karl Marx. I am so happy. He whispers in my ear, "Let the ruling classes tremble at a communist revolution." He grabs me with his powerful hands and places me on my knees. I am ready. I organize a labor union for Karl Marx. He throws reactionaries into the gulag. It hurts so much, but I do it for Marx. I take up arms against the bourgeoisie. I want to contribute to the revolution. He roars a mighty roar as he fills my life with class consciousness. My boss walks in. Karl looks him straight in the eye and says, "From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs." Marx leaves through the window. Workers of the world unite; you have nothing to lose but your chains.

I think you give MTV too much credit. They just want to be relevant and make money, and a pretty good way to do that is to make some shitty jokes about a majority group like white people.

Youre criticizing us for self awareness while using the terms "regressive left" (i.e. people you disagree with), "race baiting" ("stop mentioning race everyone! Now here's my essay on THUGS roaming the URBAN HELLSCAPE"),"white hating"(you only think it's hateful because any criticism of the thing you are is apparently hate, but racism against minorities doesn't count), and "safe spacing" (i.e. people don't want to be around you because youre a shouty dick, and also entirely irrelevant to what the video was saying)

Actually it was around page 60 or so. I'd been browsing for over an hour I think. /r/all isn't based on total upvotes, it's based on "hotness", which is an algorithm taking into account number of points, number of comments, age of post, and average number of points for that specific subreddit. More obscure subs show up around page 25 or so.

This is literally the only rule they have.

This subreddit is meant to be a place free of excessive cynicism, negativity and bitterness. Healthy skepticism is fine under certain circumstances, but toxic attitudes are not welcome here.

90% of threads in that subreddit are Brave RedditorsTM trying to figure out how something isn't positive, usually when it's something nice happening to a minority.

In their defense it's often not positive news. There's a lot of "homeless little girl finds some shoes on Christmas" type stuff. Like, yay, shoes, but that'a pretty bad if you think about it past the surface level

I don't disagree. A lot of the posts I'm like "uh why exactly are you uplifted that such tragedy exists?" But there are plenty of posts where people are just looking to be negative as fuck. The "Woman With Down Syndrome Starts Successful Cookie Business After Job Rejections" article comes to mind where a bunch of shit stains had to be pedants about her role in the cookie business. Like seriously what level do you have to sink to to complain about a feel good article about someone with Down Syndrome finding purpose in life. Half of the comments were along the lines of "well ackshually since she isn't and can't be successful because she doesn't have a 300 IQ like me." Looking back now it seems a lot of those comments got deleted but the moderation took ages.

Makes sense after the whole moderator purge by the head mod a few months back (some of the former mods were talking about it in SRD; head mod is apparently a total slime ball that didn't like the liberals having power and not in the commie way).

Yeah there are a lot of posts there where the story is basically "Person whose life is constant suffering sees brief glint of hope."
