Welcome to January.

Transfer rules from here on out -

  • RELIABLE SOURCES ONLY as seperate threads (Tier 2 or above). All other gossip, articles, tweets, etc, go in this thread which will be stickied.

  • All self-posts which relate to transfers (in or out) are not allowed and should be posted in this thread (Eg 'Carrick replacement?')

If this thread, for Week 1 (Today - 8th Jan) seems to get boring or unused, please feel free to make one for a new day (Max one per day). It'll get stickied and everyone can comment on the ongoings.

As it is January and from Mourinho's comments, a signing may be unlikely so having a strict daily rule may be unwise. This thread could be enough for the entire week as things are pretty quiet.

But of course if we do end up having concrete interest in someone, feel free to make another!

I half expect United to transfer out Ashley Young, who is currently third-choice right-back (!) and whose contract is up in 18 months. Not sure if he would take a pay cut or if Man United would accept a very low offer (his transfer is currently valued at 8.5 million pounds, per transfermarkt.) At 31 years old and hardly ever included in the first team, leaving at this junction might be useful for all parties involved.

Made the team today, and I think he really likes being here. Sucks that he isn't getting minutes though. On the wings he's behind Mkhi, Martial, Rashford, Lingard, Mata, and Rooney at least, and Pereira is coming back from loan next year (assuming Memphis and Januzaj are gone). I can't see us getting much for him, so if he's content I'd let him run his contract down and leave for free if he likes. Seems like a good dressing room presence too (team DJ, etc.).

Is it not crazy how many fringe players we have burning up the wage bill? I think this January transfer window should mostly be about culling the people not in Jose's plans. We can get depth from the youth in case of an injury crisis.
