I can't seem to find it, but I'm positive I've seen a post with the same issue before ("roommate claims human rights violation if I don't give them free food").

you mean this one

And then there is this one:

right here

Yes! That first one mostly, I'd forgotten the second one. No wonder I couldn't find it though, it was a neighbor, not a tenant/roommate - it was even dumber than I remembered.

I'm glad you've seen it too because I thought I was having a super strong deja vu thing going

WHO THE FUCK TURNS DOWN FRYBREAD THOUGH????

I love that the roommate thinks OP is obligated not just to give her food, but to give her wings. Now I want to build a utopian paradise in which access to hot, fresh Buffalo wings is considered a human right.

Tell me if you do, I will pack my covered wagon and move there. The rivers of blue cheese dressing will flow fresh and pure. Fields of celery stalks and lakes of delicious wing sauce and wild winged buffaloes as far as the eye can see.

I will follow you there, brother. And open a corner store and mark-up toilet paper 8,000%.

Our main export will be insanely delicious buffalo wings. We'll be like the UAE only with deliciousness instead of oil. I think we can handle your expensive toilet paper.

As a European, I can live with an 8-and-some-decimals% upmark.

If I've learned anything from the American education system about European toilets it's this:

Where is Europe again? Is that near England?

blue cheese dressing

Begone ye heretic, ranch dressing is the one true path. Death to the nonbelievers!

Good sir, there is room for all believers in the saucy wing of the buffalo in this land.

Native American gold standard deliciousness!

Oh man, you're one of today's lucky 10,000.

Have you ever had funnel-cake at a carnival? It's sort of like that, only not crispy and much tastier. Also similar to a sopapilla, if that tells you anything. If you don't give a solitary fuck about the size of your waistline or the state of your arteries, you have got to try it. It's amaaaaaazing.

Don't tell my relative the dietician... but that sounds delicious!

Find yourself a Navajo taco somewhere. It is bomb. It's cash money in your face. One of the best things I ever ate.

$100 a month? That's a sweet ass deal. For that, I could afford clothes, makeup, food and still pay rent with no problems. Does North Dakota suck or something?

There's just nothing here(my area, cities are different). It's small farms and nothing. The real kicker..she earns $30,000 a year.

That's really not much money depending on where you live, the cost of living where I live is fairly cheap, not 100 bucks a month cheap, but cheap, and 30 grand a year would be scraping by. That's, like, waitress wages.

It's more than enough to get by here. The hundred bucks covers utilities too, she doesn't have a car and her job covers most of her health insurance. So that's about $250 for rent and insurance add in another $300 for food(she eats all frozen meals) so $550 a month and her take home pay is ~$2000 a month so all in all she has $1450 left each month and she blows it on crap.

I myself would buy a box of store-brand saltines and a jar of the cheapest possible peanut butter and just silently point at it when she asked me for food. Because I'm kind of a bitch like that.

If you're living somewhere for 100 bucks a month, 30,000 a year is living large. I get by with about 40,000 take home with 2,000 dollar rent.

The sad part is, if she bought all that makeup from a decent makeup store, like sephora or ulta, their return policies are beyond generous. I think ulta is 30 days, and sephora is 60 days, you can return anything, even half used up stuff, and they'll refund your money. Plenty of girls in the make up subreddit but tons of shit, use it for a month or two, decide they don't love it, or that they spent more on it than they should have, and just return it and the store eats that cost and throws it away. She has the opportunity it get that money back, she just won't

For the record, I think it's a shitty thing to return half used make up, because the store gives you free samples of just about anything you ask for to prevent this, but if it comes between getting a meal, or having eyebrows on fleek...

I'm still amazed by the amount she spends. I know that stuff gets expensive but over $1,000 a month? Is she coating her self in gold? Are the brushes made of pure Kardashian hair?

I want to sell makeup brushes made of pure Kardashian hair.

I don't think I spend that much in a year. Even if I was getting good shit.

No kidding. I usually buy pretty decent stuff, occasionally I'll splurge on a reallly nice eyeshadow pallete or lipsticks, but my makeup collection lasts, and according to my sephora account I've spent close to $700 this YEAR, and that's with buying all new brushes and really getting into wearing lipstick and buying quite a few to see which I like the best. I cannot fathom spending all that money every month, even if I could afford it, there's no way I could wear all that makeup before it expires.

20 miles is an absurd trip for food, even if it isn't in the sub zeros.

I walk maybe 2 total for groceries and that's plenty.

Unless she's a seasoned backpacker that trip is completely out of the question.

Especially in bad weather on an empty stomach. Their fault for not budgeting for food, but at the same time that's not a walk I'd want to take while hungry.

Oh 100% her fault for being in that completely avoidable situation, but the people saying "oh that's an easy trip if she's a healthy adult" don't have a fucking clue.

yeah, as annoying as the person claiming their rights are being violated is..."oh, walking 10 miles is easy!" WTF? If it's easy terrain and you're in OKish shape, and the weather's nice and you're not having to carry more than wate,r maybe. 20 miles round trip is still gonna take your whole damn day though. Assuming a walking pace of 15 minutes a mile (fairly generous, I'd expect more like 20 over this distance), that works out to 5 hours of walking time if you don't have to stop at all.

Also as someone pointed out shed burn almost a days worth of calories walking to get a single meal.

There are companies that will deliver food to you of course, and something called the internet that lets you contact them. No need to walk.

They are in the middle of nowhere, but Craigslist might work if none of the companies are out there

Some companies deliver for free anywhere in the US - I didn't say "fresh" food. You can go on amazon and buy food for example.

You've never left the city have you? Guess what there's places where there's no food delivery/Grubhub/etc. Even if there was where are they going to get food? One of the two restaurants that both close at 8pm. Food from Amazon would take 5+ days to get here.

I live in a village in wales, my point still stands though that amazon and other companies offer free shipping and USPS does presumably have universal service.

I really doubt "anywhere" just because of weird remote locations that take hours to get to, there's gotta be fine print

I think he's just never been to a rural area before.

OP:

A woman rents a room from me for $100 a month. Nowhere in the lease does it say that she has access to my food.

She spent all her money on clothes and makeup and now she can't afford any food till Monday. She was whining last night that she was hungry so I let her have a couple of my chicken wings.

Now she complaining again that she's hungry and has no food. She demanding that I give her some of my dinner(after calling it gross). She claims that it's a human rights violation and that she's being starved.

Appreciated but I don't think they're in danger of deleting or being removed.

OP is just hungry for karma after spending all their Reddit Silver on make-up.

I mean yeah the lady is incredibly dumb for spending her food money on frivolous things but it's absurd to claim walking 20 miles a day for a single meal is sane.

How about for work?

http://www.cnn.com/2015/02/03/us/detroit-man-walks-21-miles-for-daily-commute/

Bicycling would be more feasible.

Still insane but he difference being that shed be burning almost an entire days worth of calories for a single meal he is getting more than one meal a day. Also the whole reason that someone wrote an article about that guy is because he's insane for walking a 20 mile commute.

Walking that amount is completely unreasonable, much like the tenant's attitude... If faced with a lot of walking and no transport, I would find a bicycle.

Walking for work shows determination and I like the reported story that people chipped in for the guy.

No. Walking an almost marathon just to get to work shows desperation, not determination.

I'm not saying it's shitty here, I love it here but that doesn't mean that it's not -11 and there's no bus.

Nah, they're not justifying it so much as pointing out why people being blatantly harsh are wrong in their justifications. They've said pretty clearly that they don't want to feed her, just also that they're not gonna notify them of that by saying "walk miles in the snow at night right now".
