How good was this guy? Just when people started to doubt him he came up with the goods and showed what type of calibre of player we are dealing with here. What an amazing win!

no one doubted he has the skill, but he needed to fix his head.

we saw him just drift through games on several occasions this season. the bench has done him good, looked like a beast yesterday, a true MOTM performance.

I think it was a combination of a few things.

  1. Mourinho took his time, similar to Mkhi, to rest Martial and improve him.

  2. We had a very good movement off the ball today, and this helps Martial. He likes to run and either cut inside or cross, but when there isn't movement from other players, he can't cut through the defense. But yesterday the defense couldn't double mark him because they had to constantly track Fellaini's runs into the box, Pogba at the edge of the box etc.

  3. Chambers was extremely poor defensively. We realized that, so we focused our play on Martial's wing.

Everytime Fellaini plays the AM role in a 3 our winger whoever it was has played well, I'll admit he's no good as a DM, that he isn't technically the best and that we shouldn't route one to him like LVG did, but in yesterdays position he bullies the fullbacks and creates so much more space for our wingers.

Consistency my man, he lacks the consistency. Hopefully this is a turning point for him on the pitch as well as off. It's time to get his head on straight and get ready to succeed The Zlatan's throne.

I think there was an adjustment period that he had to go through, Lvg and Mou have different ideas about what they wanted him to do. LVG wants safe passes back to midfield, Mou wants him to run as often as he can.

Yes I do agree but playing Calum chambers who's primarily a centre back on the wings against a pacy and skillful winger is asking to be taken apart. We'll see if he's able to maintain this kind of standard

I was most impressed by how relentless he was. It didn't matter if he got in a perfect cross or got the ball taken off him he immediately went back and attacked the defenses weaknesses. It showed a lot of heart
