Running a tad late, Christmas season was super busy, Grandmother collapsed, had to call 911, bedbug scare, etc. I'm alive though, and so gonna get this shit on the road. Nominations will be open for ONE WEEK, after that I'll set up the full voting session.

I will be commenting with a list of people so far nominated for each award prior to this thread. This will appear within the next 24 hours. To jog your memories, nominations are open for:

1. The Ravia Academy Award, for the redditor who produced the year's most incomprehensible wall of text

2. The UltimatePhilosopher Memorial Grammy, for the redditor most likely to start a cult based on his or her pet idea.

3. The Saint Samuel à Harris Cup, for the Reddit philosophy community's smuggest "New Atheist".

4. The Golden Timecube, for the most liberal use of metaphysical speculation.

5. The Friedrich Nietzsche Wikipedia Page Memorial Tony Award, for the most arrogant example of presupposed meta-ethical anti-realism.

6. The Monximus-Rand American Liberty Prize, for the advancement of human freedom in the face of all notions of common decency.

7. The Order of the Red Pill, for the most obvious attempt to mask personal angst and insecurity with chauvinistic (and/or racist) pseudo-intellectual puffery.

8. The Distinguished Degree in Dick Dorkins Dissonance, awarded to the person who singlehandedly demonstrates the most blatant and extreme instance of cognitive dissonance discovered in that year.

9. The L.J.J. Wittgenstein Lifetime Achievement Award, for consistent contributions to the Reddit philosophy community exemplifying the highest standards of arrogance, blithe ignorance, and rotten logic, above and beyond the call of duty and with total disregard for public reputation.

10. A new award! To be nominated by all of you! Every year we create an award and retire one, and this cannot be done without your amazing suggestions. And to remind you all, if you all fuck this up and pick another stupid award to win for the third year in a row, democracy is dead and we turn to a panel of experts to decide these awards. No pressure.

11. And finally, an optional Badphilosophy Medal of Honor, for if we believe someone truly exemplifies the worst of the worst behaviors to ever be seen, currently the only holder is rookie triple eagle winner, /u/Loki5654. So this award basically means you believe someone is just as bad as Loki. [This award is awarded on a year by year basis, it will not be awarded to someone just because they're the worst we have that year.]

I tried to talk to people about the expansion, but nobody responded really to the PMs, and those that did said they weren't interested. Maybe next year. :(
