Using someone else's away ticket (self.reddevils)

At the beginning of the season there was a statement from the club saying you can't use someone else's ticket for away games and that the would be people checking ids at the ground.

Has anyone experienced this? I've not heard of anything and badly want to buy a ticket for West Ham off someone
