Auslogics - TweakBit PCSpeedup

This is definitely a scam even though the company has gone to great lengths to make the product appear legitimate.I violated my own rule of never purchasing online without first vetting the company.

It is pretty much a standard bait and switch. Your are offered a chance to try before you buy with a 60 day money back guarantee.Once you scan your computer for problems and are provided a free report of issues found, you can purchase the full version of the software for $29.95. The company then uses a third party Avangate to provide customer service (somewhere in India). This company sends an email with a 25 character alphanumeric key.

This key is supposed to unlock the program you purchased to provide full operation. Here is where is gets interesting. You run the program, input the key, and click Register. You are then taken back to a web page that lists the problems found on your computer.

You are supposed to fill in your name and address, again, and are asked to confirm the email address your supplied. There is a Register button below this. Once you click it, you taken right back to the order page. After 3 more attempts to activate the product and being led a merry chase, I decided to contact customer service at the 800 number that was provided.

They asked for my for order number, what the problem was, etc. Finally, the person I was speaking to wanted to access my computer remotely to activate the program. I told him I had the product key but could not escape being redirected back to the order page. He says "I can access your computer remotely and activate the program for you." That is makes as much sense has giving your keys, alarm codes, and passwords to someone on the street.

I said, "Unacceptable. I have the key. Why are you redirecting me when I register or activate the program?" His response was "You will have to it manually.

Good day." and hung up.I will be filing a report with the state Attorney General's Office regarding my experience.

Hello dear customer.
We are really sorry you had a negative experience with us. Customer service is high priority for us. We work with professional technical assistants to help you with any issues remotely. The technical assistants may ask for the remote access to your computer to make the distant support more efficient only. If you found this inappropriate they should have instructed you instead.
If you believe that any actions by these specialists were not professional or proper, please submit detailed information on that to us at http://www.tweakbit.com/support/contact/ and we will investigate the case thoroughly and take appropriate measures.
Best wishes, TweakBit team.

I have been with TweakBit for a couple of years now. Have most of their products and while it's not cheap it's definitely worth the try. I had frequent freezes which were somehow fixed by their pc repair. Windows Start menu shows up faster, as well.I think (though I'm not 100% sure) that my games are running a bit faster after updating the graphics drivers. Anyway it's a small investment considering that I was about to get a new PC. Eventually switched to Mac anyway, but thought I'd leave my 2 cents worth.

Also agree. I was in a hurry and did not vet the company on line. After they took my money and sent a receipt, I did not receive an activation code. I called tech support and a very polite guy offered to go online with my computer and fix the problem. I demurred and asked why I had not received an activation code. He directed me to the website where I could press a button and receive the code. But when I did so and entered my info I got a message saying, "...sorry but we cannot locate your account with the info you provided..." Interesting, since they apparently had the info to charge my card and send the info. So I called back to tech support and explained the problem. I spoke to a different person who listened to the problem, then said he would have to transfer me to the original tech support guy. I went on hold for five minutes and hung up. VERY FISHY. DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE. SCAM.

Totally agree with this review, a SCAM, it requires continuous "purchases" of additional software to solve ALL the problem! Furthermore is it almost impossible to uninstall all the files of the PC Repair Kit!! I worked for days to get rid of the software. The phone number that is offered for support, is ONLY SUPPORT HELPING TO INSTALL THE FILES. The folks you talk to will tell you, THEY ONLY HELP WITH INSTALLATION, THEY ARE NOT COMPUTER SUPPORT TECNICIANS! Helping install (of course) requires you to give them remote access to your computer. NOT A CHANCE WOULD I WANT TO DO THAT!
