I do not think these Chinese behave well. However, I can understand most of them were anxious because they were in an uncertain situation where they were not familiar with. Some of them were indeed unreasonable. There may be space for the airport to improve their communication to avoid such kind of things.

Japanese using Chinese are pointing PRCs, not use this for Singaporeans, Taiwanese and Hong Kong people. All Chinese Singaporeans, Malay and Indian Singaporeans are the same "Singaporean" for most of Japanese. So few Japanese can be concerned selecting words “Chinese” or “PRC people” in front of Chinese Singaporeans.

Don't call yourself Chinese. Most Hong Kong people will just say " Hong Konger " to 100% avoid any confusion or misunderstanding, just straight to point. It's important you don't call yourself Chinese or every non-Chinese will get you mixed up with China people. Hong Kong people knows that China people's manners, temper's reputation, image, behavior, etiquette on average is far worse than other people. Calling yourself Chinese is problematic since a small minority of people of Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia are recent mainland Chinese migrants and have their passports.

欧志坚 我赞同。俗语说国有国法，家有家规。每个家庭是国家的基础。可惜的是很多人已经忘记如何教导自己的孩子。 孩子长大成人行为霸道，不为他人着想，不用常理 。一受人家的批评就开始骂人家是贱货，是猪。如果你谦恭有礼的话，人家肯定不会批评你因为没有原因，没有根据批评你。 我觉得当父母的人都要记得打是爱，骂是疼。整天宠坏孩子只会害死自己的孩子，害死自己的国家。你看看有些人的回应就知道谁是明理的人，谁是无理的人。

gpw I agree with you. They need to have a team on hand that can communicate the situation better to the travellers. Communication breakdown, I agree, is what led to their anxiety which snowballed into accusations of racism. It wasn't just the Chinese being stopped from travelling. Passengers of every country were being told that flights were cancelled too. We have friends who travel and they too were affected as they had gone to Japan for their holiday. These friends are of diff nationalities too. None of them behaved unreasonably. Flight delayed? Catch some forty winks or go grab a bite and watch something on YouTube. No need for such hooligan behaviour. Racism is not the reason for these passengers not being able to board the plane. I really hope the Chinese understand that because it still feels like some are in disbelief. The weather outside doesn't lie. You can't fly a plane in that weather. At the end of the day, I feel most sorry for the Chinese who are courteous and well-mannered. Their fellow men let them down by their rude and unreasonable behaviour. The louts don't realise that it only takes a couple of bad apples to create a deeply negative impression and it affects society's perspective of their country and people. :( It is my hope that China will be cultured again. It was once more cultured than the Europeans were in the same period of time in history.

Sha Xu I have to go back to using English for a little. :) I'm a mother of three and I will not hesitate to be strict with my kids. Unfortunately, I've seen some kids here from China who are so rude to their own parents. A mother was carrying everything for her son and he couldn't even bother to hold the lift door for her. I felt so upset for her. Family values are shaped by one's culture. The culture is determined in part by the government, in part by the upbringing each family passes on generation to generation. It might take a while for civic consciousness to take root. To be fair, we have our fair share of ugly Singaporeans too. Every country has its own bad eggs.

+Shalom W 中国大陆人口是新加坡的260倍，国土面积是新加坡的1.3万倍，中国大陆文盲和半文盲是4亿，功能性文盲4亿，剩下6亿人，才具备现代社会最起码的公民意识！这些大部分都是知识分子、科学家 、白手起家的商人，科技工作者等等，所以大陆民众是良莠不齐！当然，新加坡人也有种族歧视，我过去在youtube 也看到新加坡人自己拍的视频，将部分行为恶劣的新加坡人拍下来PO上网给人看！
