If you haven't seen this Hitch-slap, or are not aware of Christopher Hitchens' particular brand of social commentary, check out this short 4 minute video of his argument in response to Silverman, Fey, and Poehler a few years back before he died. They were responding to his initial argument: Women are not Funny, and this was his counter-response to their Vanity fair article.
He frames his argument with evolutionary psychology: women haven't ever, nor will ever need, to be funny, no matter how many "one-off's" you parade around as 'funny women." Men need to be funny, or risk being cut from the gene pool.
He has a lot of other content, and is a great example of a modern orator who can present a compelling argument, and weather the staunchest refutations. See some of his debates for examples of him throwing down quality argumentation on the fly. RIP, Hitch
