What's the alternative! Hire a plus sized models for each size? Wouldn't that be too expensive.

Usually, with models, the payscale is weight(kgs)*time(hrs worked). So, a larger model costs more to use for the same amount of time compared to a regular model.

Source: Am weight-recorder for models. Often, companies will tell a modeling agency in advance that they only want to pay a CERTAIN AMOUNT for a models time, no more. So models will have to do serious cuts before being weighed in, not unlike MMA fighters.

Most of the time they don't even have a model of the pants. Not sure why they chose this as an example? Like what fat person knows how many little people fit in their pants?

Those aren't little people tho, they're average people

Only if you have to feed them.

PLUS SIZED PERSON OF HIGHER MASS NEED TO FEEL GOOD ABOUT THEMSELVES SO WE SHOULD ACCOMODATE AND CREATE A FANTASY AROUND THEM WHERE THEY ARENT FAT

I don't think the problem is that it makes the pants look fat, I think the problem is that cramming four people into those pants, two in each leg, is an extreme way to demonstrate that. They could have just found a genuinely fat person. So it's not a matter of creating a fantasy, its a matter of poor taste in marketing materials.

Edit: look at the feet on the fat pants.

WANTED: Really really really really fat person (XL+++) to model the largest size clothing we offer.

I can't see anything going wrong with an ad like that.

They could get a person that was a fat but not quite as fat and just photo shopped it the rest of the way. There were so many other ways to do this, like with a mannequin, that this is really the dumbest possible path they could have taken.

I'm sure at the end of the day it all boiled down to how much money they'd have to spend to model it correctly.

Yes we could just have the two professional models we already hired who are on set, or we could commission a mannequin of a 650 lb woman! I'm guessing the first is easier , faster, and cheaper. I'm also guessing that that the hassle of finding a suitable model that size to take a couple pics is also borderline impossible or at least very impractical. It's actually a very smart idea.

Where are you seeing the extra 2 people?👀

Am I missing something, or are there just two people in those pants, one in each leg?

I'm not sure a person of that size is ever getting out of bed and standing long enough to take this picture.

I hate that this is what some people actually want. Fat acceptance must be most stupid shit ever...

Depends on what level of fat acceptance we're talking about.

Sure, I'll accept that some people are fat and don't want to do anything about it. But I do have problems with people expecting special treatment because they're fat, people who lie about why they're fat (it's "because I eat too much and exercise too little", not "genetics" or "big bones") and most of all: people who claim that being fat isn't unhealthy.

people who claim that being fat isn't unhealthy.

This one floors me the most. Not because I want to force fat people to admit how unhealthy they are, but because they're spreading completely false information to other people who may not be well-informed about their health. I have seen seemingly well-educated large folks say with total confidence that being obese isn't correlated with health in any way. Like, sure, believe that if it makes you feel better, but don't say it out loud, where some stupid kid might hear you and think "ooooh, welp i guess I get to eat all the cake I want now!"

Just because YOU want to eat without moderation doesn't mean you should be encouraging others to have your shitty lifestyle, ESPECIALLY your kids. I get so upset whenever I see a kid too young to know any better who's just been made MASSIVE by their parents. I honestly think it borders on child abuse.

Let's be honest here, the ones who want fat acceptance are usually fat themselves.

I mean they aren't just get a fat model

There's a time to tell people to sort their shit out, when you're trying to sell them something is not the time. Can you imagine if you walked into a shop and the staff took the piss out of you? Would you then buy their products? Or would you get the hell out?

Come on. It's not unreasonable to want clothes that are made for my size. And to want them to be modeled by a fat person, not four skinny people.

Gut Lard, are each of your legs the size of a whole person? Come get you some UUGalaxy Apparel pants!.

Nice pants for fat cunts.

Does the green one really have two pair of foot ?

It's actually a pair of legs in each leg of the pants.

As people eat, they become larger. Once they become large enough, they begin a process called fission, in which they will eventually split into two separate people. The first parts to split are the legs and arms, with the torso next and lastly the head.

"Hey you fat piece of shit, you need pants that two normal people can fit into. You disgusting pig." - best weight loss plan ever.

I think this is the PERFECT way to show your wares are plus sized.

I want to know who the fuck answered "how should we display our fat people clothes" with "put a person in each leg".

If I remember correctly this was from an Asian country. They don't care about hurting fatty feelings.

To be fair, it wouldn't at all hurt a fatty Asians' feelings. They'd just be all, "yep, I am the size of two people."

And that's how it should be. When I speak with my clients I use very matter of fact terms about obesity and fitness because things are far too sugar-coated in American society when it comes to this particular problem.

I lay out the current situation, realistic goals for a given time table, and what will need to change in day to day life in order to achieve it. I'm not judgmental, but I don't dance around the truth at all.

No screenshots

Ahahaha, that's hilarious. Maybe it will save someone or change someone. If they see the pants they were about to order can fit two adults in it - maybe they'll realize they have a problem and need to do something about it.

Look, man, I know I need to lose weight, but seeing the way people are talking on here just makes me want to eat more. Because it makes me sad. It makes me feel worthless. And that makes me want to eat.

Maybe this insight will save or change someone. If they see that they're hurting and not helping - maybe they'll realize that treating someone like less of a person because they weigh more than the average person is in fact a shitty and stupid strategy for helping out.

Look, I get it, I'm fat. That means I'm wider. It doesn't mean I'm fucking TALLER. Why does every clothing item I am forced to buy have the crotch at my knee level?!

Just like this 10XL picture...it's like 12 inches longer than the blue pants for some reason. Honey Boo Boos mom wasn't 10 feet tall, ffs. She was just WIDER!

Why not? This shows that the green pair is gargantuan

Look at those sexy feet

Sure it is, shame the fuck out of those two people in one person motherfuckers.

What about the odd number plus size ? Where are the 3XL, 5XL, 9 XL ? That shit ain't right.

If you don't like the way "fat" is depicted because it effects you personally there is an easy solve for that. Don't be fat

At some point, I would think that they probably stop being "pencil" pants.

Yep, they become Magnum Sharpie pants.

If you have to buy 10xl clothes it's time to reevaluate your life.

If you managed to get to 10xl, it might be way too late to reevaluate your life.

Your decisions may weigh heavily on you at that point.

[–]vitriolic_amalgamati 1 ポイント2 ポイント  (0子コメント)

Laying it on kind of thick there, don't you think?

Plus size pencil pants.I love alliterations. It's the reading version of popping a pimple.

I'm going to guess that the reason for this is not so much to be funny or offensive, but because they couldn't find a person of the correct size to model it.

They have obviously never been to America.

Asians have a culture of shitlording. They give no fucks. They have followed obese tourists around just to take pics.

Are we just going to ignore the fact the far left model is packing six inches of man meat?

I was about to ask why nobody was bringing up the fact that the left model had hooves. Then I realized there are two people in the pants lol

It's that a bulge in the left pant leg?

Is pant even the correct word for one half of a pair of pants?

I mean, grammatically, you just answered your own question.
