Is being a fan of Japan's culture and the like disrespectful to the WWII POWs and the like? (self.japan)

Basically this. Some have said that being a fan of Japanese entertainment and its culture is rather disrespectful, because you are enjoying stuff from a country that had done many horrible things to people in WWII. Like, some have grandparents or are veterans or were held captive as POWs, and you are here saying to them that you are enjoying stuff from the country that tried to kill or torture them.

Yes, there are some far-right Japanese people who deny war crimes, and that's not okay. But they do not represent all of Japan.
