The Armenian summer signing stepped off the bench against the Black Cats to make a welcome return from injury, and he quickly made an influential impact on the game to delight the Reds supporters.

Latching onto a Zlatan Ibrahimovic cross, Mkhitaryan produced a moment of magic by acrobatically flicking the ball beyond helpless goalkeeper Jordan Pickford before celebrating in front of the Stretford End. It was a genuinely superb effort that could potentially win the club’s Goal of the Season award in May.
