Pogba: Our next Captain? (self.reddevils)

During another great win for us today, and in many matches we've played this season since Paul has settled and began to perform more consistently, I've noticed his mentality seems perfectly suited to be Manchester United's next Captain.

  • Leads by example in his performances.
  • Very popular among the squad.
  • Vocal on the pitch.
  • Positioned as a CM, where most like to see their captains play.
  • Fittest player in the squad, able to last 90 minutes every game.
  • Still only 23.
  • With Rooney and Carrick aged 31 and 35 respectively, our current Captain and Vice Captain will need replacing sooner rather than later.

With these points considered, I can see Pogba and Herrera taking up the mantle, and being built around in Mourinho's United.

Agreed. He seems to have a very positive outlook which is reflected among the squad, similar to Patrice.

I agree.

I see Pogba and Herrera as the two leaders of United moving forward, however I feel that Pogba's status at the club and youth will be likely to see him take the armband next, with Ander second in command.

Herrera would also be a fantastic choice though.

Left field thought and still very early days but what about the new and improved Phil Jones?! Terry was 24 when José first went to Chelsea and transformed him into a great captain (scum bag indeed, but a good captain). Jones is the same age has some similar attributes (lack of goals and potential fitness aside) and Fergie always had him pegged as a potential long term Utd player.
