The thing that's really pissing me off is that one 'e'.

Damn you. That was clever.

What's the story behind the joke? I don't follow Hearthstone that closely

Prior to the previous patch, a few cards had orphaned words in the descriptions.

It wasn't, or they would've "balanced" it in a patch and the final result would've been far, far worse.

Pre Patch:

I didn't know this game was made by blizzar

Post Patch:

I'm guessing that Kairosoft has a lot more experience with non-English character sets. There are a lot of quirks like this in their games.

Doing anything would be better than leaving that 'e' there. Change the text size for Christ's sake.

Or at least break words on spaces, jeez.

Changing text size without making the resulting text look horrible is one of the most difficult problems in computer science.

We're used to word processors and browsers that do a reasonable job at it. But that's a huge codebase to import into a game for just the one fix.

Should be an option to sell bug fixes as DLC

Sadly, I can honestly see this becoming the norm in the near future. A decade ago I never thought video game devs would sell half assed games only to keep selling the final product in pieces as "dlc" for even more money.

I mean destiny is kinda like finishing an incomplete story with dlc

But wasn't that their plan? To make the game last awhile by just continually releasing story DLC instead of a whole new game every few years?

So what you're saying is that they intended to make an FPS MMORPG? Thats just crazy man!

That would get killed in courts guaranteed. They would literally have to advertise the game as containing bugs that you would have to pay for patches to have repaired.

I doubt it because most people will decide whether or not to buy a game by the initial reviews. Therefore if the game is buggy as shit before the release of the DLC the score will be low and no one will buy the game. That is of course that the company does not release day one bug fix dlc.

Oh you sweet summer child. Broken games have been pre ordered, games have been well received from reviews before launch.

this is why game devs give out games to reviewers with a nice "rate it good or you'll never ever get a game early from us" message

I don't think anyone can legally do that so I doubt it.

So, in other words, Paradox's business model?

Love some of their games, but their Hearts of Iron series in particular isn't playable without the "expansions" which are really just bug fixes.

Never forget that H1Z1 is selling game modes as separate games. Imagine having to pay $20 for CTF, $20 for deathmatch, etc.

I dunno about incomplete, it's just been in one constant state of development with little meaningful change and constant business model blunders. Haven't played it in a while, though. Frankly preferred it with SOE. Daybreak seems worse.

it's just been in one constant state of development

It's a fucking MMO

And SOE and Daybreak are basically the same company. Daybreak is just a smaller SOE forced to work for their investors.

Konami shouldn't take notes; they are expelled.

Metal Gear Solid V was still amazing though. Some people even say that the game only being half-complete was to reinforce the central theme of the whole game. You could almost say the anguish caused by feeling what a completed MGS game could have been like was a...uh...Phantom Pain?

the thing of that theory is that the game WAS suppose to be bigger, with assets showing a cut mission, chico, gray fox and a ton of other stuff. if the game really wanted me to feel the pain, it should have ended with the death of skull face or when not rex goes missing, hell quiet leaving was a perfect example of pain, but no we had kill our men for no reason and include a bad twist in.

i was actually just considering playing phantom pain as i have always been a huge fan of the series and was looking for a new single player campaign to dig into. i'm a bit curious about what its lacking that might lead you to reference it here. could you boil it down or maybe point me to a review that does a good job?

Take into account what everyone has said, but it's also a fucking dope experience that you're unlikely to forget.

well i dont want to spoil it here but the game left two very important story arcs up in the air, had a lot of cut content and just feels off.

konami is a shit company but not for TPP. It was a great game and only missing one mission. and the optimization was on a whole other level to most of the games mentioned

Honest question, whats wrong with Dishonored 2? I have it for xbox and it seems fine

I think the port to PC was terrible.

Good God it is, I'm trying to play it as we speak. I don't have the best rig, but I shouldn't have to use absolute minimum settings. Looks like a PS2 game, and I still get frame dips.

I don't have internet to download day one patches. The game works, but it's kind of a mess. Physics are wonky, things like to go through other things, the giant tentacle monsters are supposed to let you sneak by them. You can't. They attack you if you get within their radius no matter how slow you are.

Which makes at least one area a bitch if not completely impossible to do 100% stealthy.

I assume, I don't play stealth.

What people don't realize about the tentacles is that they actually have a "front" where they will detect you, and a "back" where they won't. If you sneak in front of their "front", then of course they are going to detect you. You can easily keep 100% stealth/no kill by using fire bolts to remove them.

That is not true. At least not without the day one patch.

I spent a good half hour trying to figure out if there was any blind spot or whatever. 360° degree radius. If you are inside the radius it attacks. Once it attacks the radius expands slightly, but decreases shortly as long as you are outside of it.

Edit: did I mention I'm really bad at stealth? Fire arrows didn't occur to me. I don't think I ever actually used those... I just threw grenades at the bitches.

I've already examined the game thoroughly, through about 6 play throughs. That gives plenty of time to learn the mechanics of each enemy. However, I'm pretty sure that there are blind spots around the tentacles, otherwise my 100% stealth play through would have been bust about 50 times.

I think we should agree that a lot of people need to be taking notes right now

New Deus ex isn't finished!?!

The rest of the content is coming in DLC's and a sequel.. Atleast when Witcher 3 does DLC its like 30 hours with a complete new story

If we held every game to a standard set by Witcher 3 and CDPR, we would constantly be disappointed.

Oh wait.

Thankfully CDPR are making /r/cyberpunk2077 so it'll probably be the new king of the RPG cyberpunk genre. Some competition to kick SE and Eidos up the bum will be a good thing.

Dishonored 2 isn't quite as bad as those other examples in my opinion. It could still run for PLENTY of people on PC just fine, including me, and the console version didn't have issues

What's wrong with new deus ex? I put over 40 hours into it and it's honestly in top 3 best games of this year for me. Have I missed something?

It wasn't even nominated for GOTY. The abrupt ending to sell a sequel and ship missions in multiple DLC's is pretty much the reason why gamers feel its incomplete.

How is DXMD unfinished?

Yeah seriously, dont see why its on this list.

Yea its not like they put the rest of the content into a sequel..

it's unfinished from a story perspective - the game just ends abruptly just as things are getting interesting

I don't understand it. I got it day 1 and had no issues besides some lip syncing issues. Which doesn't really effect the gameplay at all.

This is about story not gameplay or technical stuff.

What was wrong with Dishonored 2? (Serious question, I didn't play it. I loved Dishonored 1 though)

better start naming finished games. It´ll be quicker.

I just got Dishonored, what's incomplete about it before I finish it?

Dishonored 2 isn't incomplete, it's just very buggy on pc (by now, the patches fixed most problems). Not even that buggy really, more like Skyrim day one than SotS 2 day 1 I mean.

In other words, it's was a typical Bethesda game upon release.

New deus ex was flawless and amazing though, wtf?

Human Revolution came out in 2011 and was twice as long. And had no micro transactions...

Yeah but Deus Ex HR was 2000 hours long because you had to walk around Hong Kong and Detroit in circles for 1990 of those hours. And the game contained like six different buildings that every single character lived in.

Don't get me wrong, I love that game sooooo much but I honestly wouldn't mind if they didn't try to fool me that it's a bigger game than it is. Especially since they do it so badly.

Dont forget FF15, that was not finished.

Later half of the game was rushed sure, but it was definitely finished.

Bethesda doesn't release unfinished games, they just ship the unpatched builds 2 weeks before the testing deadline. To deliberately screw testers out of money.

I'm curious, have they done this with any of their newer games?

Because I just finished Watch Dogs 2 last night and felt like they knocked it out of the park. That game is amazing and feels very very polished to me.

No it doesn't apply anymore but that doesn't mean the circle jerk isn't still alive.

It's variable to the size of the person's screen. This game actually functions on phones with really small screens so the wrap isn't limited to a single word.

Don't worry about that subreddit, Hello Games released the Foundation update and suddenly it's an awesome game and totally worth buying

I still don't understand what happened there. The game's still as empty as it was before but now the sub turned into /r/nomanshigh

My guess is that everyone who didn't like the game abandoned the sub, so all that's left are people who like it.

Probably. Look at the upvotes. Few months ago most front page posts got thousands, now it's just in the hundreds.

So.... Pokemon go syndrome?

I think most of the angriest people over there were mad because they believed that the game had been abandoned, and Hello Games was going to just leave everyone with a half finished game while they counted their money and quietly dissolved the company.

Putting out a sizable content update did a lot to win back some of that demographic because it served as proof that they were still working on the game, which was all some of them wanted in the first place.

The game still isn't really good, but it remains an interesting concept, and if they put out a few more updates around the same size as the foundations update, and include a proper story, I'll be really interested to see how the game ultimately turns out.

That subreddit was so much better when everyone was hating on it.

I disagree, it was nothing but annoying, so much so that the people who actually liked it when it was incomplete made a completely different sub r/nomanshigh just to talk about the game without all the brigading

All it takes is a few months of complete silence, a content patch to somehow excuse that silence, and a vague comment about the horrible launch and in no time the fan boys will be lapping from your hand again. I honestly never thought rabid fanboyism was all that much of a thing, but after seeing people upvote a guy who said "Stop caring about things only an insane person would care about" to a person talking about all the lies and complete lack of promised multiplayer, I suppose I have to accept fanboyism as an actual thing.

No, no, no. You finish it. Cut out half the content (amount cut may vary, depending on genre), then you ship what's left. After that you sell the rest of the game as 3 to 10 different DLCs.

Clearly you forgot to cut the content than repackage it as day one DLC so you could make more profit from the sales.

It's not an incomplete game. It just needs DLC. The season pass is $50. It's a great deal I promise.

Totally. I got a First World War game yesterday where I cannot even play as the principal belligerents of that historical period without forking out extra money on top of the sizeable amount paid for the retail copy. I hope there will be a point in time where the masses realise that they have the power to get what they want by not paying for things they aren't satisfied with.

The developer released an alternate version of the game on the Pirate Bay where after releasing your game you stop making sales due to piracy. The amount of people complaining on forums about how to stop customers from pirating in-game, when they clearly pirated this one, was hilarious
