The reason why I really dig the adaptation choice made in the italian dub is that up to that point Light thought of himself as Kira, a full fledged god, wearing the mask of a normal human. Light Yagami was nothing more than a facade for him.
The very moment they find out he is the actual culprit everything turns upside down: the investigation team finds out that he was actually Kira, meanwhile he finds out that he had been Light Yagami the human all along, a puny man with an inflated ego that tried to trick the world and himself into thinking he was a true deity.
The fact that he first starts crying shows his breakdown, the moment he realizes the truth himself. The laughter is nothing more than a new facade, this time however it isn't for tricking the others but himself.
To not accept the simple truth.
He is no god.
He is no Kira.
He is a failure.
The other dubs however make him have either a mental break down (the ones where he laughs in a psychothic way) or go in full denial mode (the more conservative laughs). In both cases it comes off as less strong minded or intelligent than the one in the italian adaptation, because Light is a pretty amazing MC, so showing unyeilding strength despite an epic fail comes off as a childish reaction.
Just my 2 cents anyway.

Yes, unfortunatelly, hungarian dub sucks. But most of the hungarian anime dubs suck.

I actually think Italian was pretty bad. He sounds too old. Japanese and English are the best IMO.

Just curious, which other roles do the VA have in the different languages?
You know like, which other role is so different from Light that its totally amazing again to hear them laugh like this?
The german one for example is also JD from Scrubs XD

Le japonais : Il est génial.
L'Anglais : On dirait pas un chien qui couine ?
L'espagnol : Il est sympa, même si il à pas du tous l'air naturel.
Je sais pas quelle lange : Lui je l'adore ! Il vient vraiment de l'intérieur de la gorge, c'est très agréable à entendre.
Italien : Génial le mec qui pleure.
Portugais : Lui il inspire bien l'air, et il est bof dans mon avis.
Français : Il est pas censé avoir l'air un peu fou ? Et génial encore une fois il à l'air de se forcer à 300%. (Burp la voix.)
Allemand : Lui il crache l'air carrément. BUAPR BUARP BUARP BUARP.
Russie : On dirait le rire que font les gens un peu con-con. (On dirait qu'il parle presque.)
JSP : Lui c'est carrément le cliché du débile mentale dans un asile. (UAR UAR UAR UAR.)
Coréen : ... - _ -
Cantonais : Lui aussi il est agréable, même si il à l'air forcé.

he looks cool in the Hungarian part and French part ( well sort of in the French part ) and in the German. And in the Russian part he sounds like he is farting.He sounds stupid in the Hungarian part, he sounds like a lost cartoon villain in the Korean part, And he sounds like he was suffering from a mental disease in the Cantonese part.

As a Hungarian, that laugh was horrible but pls guys, do not judge the Hungarian dub because of this. I just finished watching Death Note in Hungarian dub and oh boi, the voice of the characters are awesome.

Japanese is simply the best, in any case of every Anime. DBZ (Goku) is almost the only exception.
And the Russian laugh of Yagami is so awkward, haha :D
edit: the Hungarian one isn't any better.

It's the same but very different, like british english and american english but with different spellings and words for certain things. For example if a portuguese dude saw the brazilian version he would understand it but would laugh his but off the accent and the way the words are placed in the sentence. xD
