This is something that's bothered me for most of my young adult life. I understand when someone doesn't know you well they'll nickname you "man" just because they're not familiar with you (Example: "What's up man?" "How's it going man?") But it kind of rubs me the wrong way when it's coming from someone who I'm well acquainted with like a close friend, family member, or a coworker... Almost like they're unconsciously saying "I'm trying to put some distance between us so instead of nick-naming you Bro/Buddy/Dude, or even just calling you your name, I'm just going to call you the most basic thing you are: Man."
I rarely nickname other males this, and do my best to always recognize names, because whenever I hear anyone just call me "man", when they clearly know me well enough to call me by my real name, my mind equates it to them calling me "disposable utility"... Or "irrelevant tool"... Like it makes me feel like I'm not being acknowledged as an individual. Can I get some MGTOW thoughts, or wisdom, on this?
