..when I said $350 was coming. Welcome to $400 you SPINELESS SKULLFUCKED FAGGOTS. so like I mentioned last week, I bought 10 bitcoins just about a month ago at $230. Really great advice from all you skullfucked butthurt losers who told me to sell at $300 and realize my gains, solid advice, you guys must all have your CFAs by now LOL.

In all seriousness, it is going to be so incredibly epic when we hit $1000 by Jan 1st. You goddamn better well believe I'll be coming back here to remind you all who skullfucked your craniums into dust. Have a great weekend everyone.

      I think the problem with your assertion is that /r/bitcoin is a group not equivalent to the set of all bitcoin users. This sub is not anti-/r/bitcoin, it's anti-bitcoin.

      As for the irony of calling /r/bitcoin cultish, though there is obviously a shred of truth in there by comparison, this sub is borderline inexplicable. Despite being founded years ago when bitcoin was in the single digits the dialog in here seems the same. We should thank /r/buttcoin for their small service they serve as skeptics of bitcoin, but I posit the same is true but to a greater degree in the other direction. Bitcoin is still here, gaining acceptance and growing stronger each day.

      Perhaps you need your own dedicated group of skeptics to help you see the error in your ways. I think Erik is serving that purpose here. If you truly believe that what you are doing is cult breaking then you should see the merits of that type of skeptical behavior. Perhaps apply it to yourself, check yourself once in a while. You may kick yourself in the future for how hard headed a contrarian you were. We may lose some money but we are believing in something new with some incredibly unique traits. That's different than being a contrarian. You are just as controlled by bitcoin but you will never benefit from it. It's kinda like getting your entire body tattooed to show how much you don't care about what people think.

      You put forward a few assertions which I don't think are true, so let's start there. There are not "strict rules" on /r/bitcoin, to be fair. There are some rules, and most of us feel the censorship there has been excessive lately, but this is an example of one or a few mods being bad, not a reflection on the community.

      "Public disinterest and hostility to bitcoin"... where do you get this from? The public has always been ignorant to, skeptical of, or lukewarm to Bitcoin. But it seems the public is slowly coming to realize that the ability to move value anywhere on earth instantly might be a useful technology. The fact that this week's cover story in The Economy was extolling the virtues of blockchain technology is worthy of some note, don't you think? Back in 2011 when Buttcoiners would say "this will never catch on, it's a joke and a scam" I think they had more justification in that position. Four years later, with cover stories in The Economist, major banks funding blockchain projects, a billion dollars of venture capital, hundreds of startups, and 10,000% appreciation in price, I'm amazed that Buttcoiners continue to trumpet that claim. At that point, it's evidence of cognitive dissonance and intellectual stubbornness, not valid skepticism.

      Scoreboard is on Bitcoin's side. Could the whole project still fail? Sure, but right now, it's winning. And certainly, there's a lot to make fun of in the Bitcoin community, but when people still call it a ponzi scheme, it's hard to take them seriously.       With all that said, a minority of Buttcoin comments are valid - whether criticisms of flagrant rediculousness in the Bitcoin community, or just old fashioned humor and satire (to which there is value). I wish Buttcoin would focus on the valid condemnations, and the clever humor, instead of the invalid ponzi and scam regurgitations and general dismal anonymous internet emo-tastic cynicism. And the ad hominems get weary too (though Bitcoiners aren't much better in this regard either).

      Is Buttcoin vindicated in declaring Bitcoin cultish and self-destructive? Partially. But there is a difference in saying Bitcoin is an interesting technology with some crazed cultists involved vs. saying Bitcoin is a ponzi scam and everyone involved is a child rape token peddler.

      Most generally, collectivism is a disease on both sides, Bitcoin and Buttcoin, and we'd all be better off if the intellectual and moral vigor of each improved.

      I think your civic comment hit a little close to home.

      There is a certain amount of pity we should feel for people with this level of cognitive dissonance. Their eyes get more squinty every day bitcoin exists. Nevermind the change in the media from disbelief to ridicule then to mainstream acceptance, constant talk of "blockchain" by the established banking sector and Wall Street, and seemingly constant echos of the need for capitol controls in various countries (Greece, Spain, China). Every day these contrarians get more extreme and secluded deeper in their parents' basements. And to think all they needed to do was be open minded, skeptical yes but open minded, and they might have been able to at least rent their own apartments.

      They are so dedicated that "Bitcoin is a farce" will likely be on their gravestones. There's no helping some people.

      On the upside, some of the very few surface dwelling variety do seem to serve as good vetters, helping to educate people as to some of the risks of an experiment like bitcoin. That said, most of what I see here is not that kind of productive. Mostly envy, denial and negativity. An unfortunate price for the little bit of productive behavior of the few, but it's a price they alone pay and we simply have to tolerate.

      Hopefully some of them will realize their own counterproductive behavior. I have a feeling though it's like a self replicating system. The early ones breed new ones, and the legacy of contrarianism continues.

      I just wonder when they will start to get angry at each other. Maybe it's like any other support group, counseling each other through their grief.
