I worked at GAP years ago and had to do 'greeter' duty at Xmas. So many people saying 'oh, it must be so nice listening to this music all day'.

Little did they know i'd listened to the same 8 songs on repeat for the last 8 hours (for the last month straight) and was on the verge of going postal.

Lost a good friend Tuesday night and his funeral is today.. We were really good mates in high school and through college even though we went completely different ways. I hadn't talked to him in a while and we live in different parts of the country so it was "easy" to not meet or talk. Regretting it a lot that I didn't call or talk to him more in recent times.. He is the first friend I have lost and I never thought it would hit me so hard. I am beyond devastated.

I was in a very similar spot earlier this year and I know how it hurts. Just remember the good times you had with him. It's still sinking in for me but I just feel lucky to have known such a good guy for the time I did. It's killed me that he got to a point where he felt like he had no one and no purpose never felt like he could reach out to me. He made me the football fan I am even if he was a City fan and for that I'll always be grateful.

For me:

  • Polar Express (nailed the slightly spooky but full of wonder Christmassy dream)
  • Home Alone (childhood festive favourite)
  • National Lampoons Christmas Vacation (didn't see this until about 10 years ago for the first time - brilliant)
  • Batman Returns (Christmassy Gotham is lovely)
  • Home Alone 2 (dat toy shop was a childhood dream)

It's set at Chirstmas, it's shown every Christmas without fail, Bruce Willis wears a Christmas hat and whistles Jingle Bells.

He saving lives at Christmas, the time of year where all families come together and enjoy their time being festive together, if it was a normal time of year it would be just another action film.

The last line of the film is;

" If this is their idea of Christmas, I gotta be there for New Year's."

How is this not a Christmas film?

Heading over to the High Fens region, here in Belgium, for a couple days-long Christmas weekend with someone else's family, and to walk my dog and myself out of breath.

Shame it didn't snow since the region is particularly sought after for its winterporn qualities.
