I have been saying since around month 2 of last gen release, the driver AI in GTA V is WORSE than it was in GTA 4....very annoying, the worst part is the blatant way in which the cars crossing an intersection speed up if you try to go in front or slow down and stop if you try to go behind them, you cant "predict" their movements and avoid them because their behavior is seemingly dependant on your button inputs, which is shitty. And the way the cops can perfectly mirror your button inputs is bullshit too.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. It also felt as if the first few big updates on last gen dialed up the aggressiveness of the police as well. They weren't nearly as bad at launch. And yes the import/export update took the NPC insanity to a whole new level. Suddenly everyone in LS needs to u-turn constantly, or turn left and right where no roads exist. Pretty damned annoying that's for sure.

I'm curious if the worse driver AI since I/E (you are not the first person I have heard say this same thing), is a product of the connection issues since the DDoS a few weeks ago, which apparently is still not resolved. Basically since I/E I get "could not connect to rockstar game services" every day, Saving failed all that. Eventually it does save but anyways, Im wondering if the AI turning where there are no roads is a product of the DDoS affecting the "game services" whatever that is since there are no servers. I notice the AI act erratically when someone has McDonalds wifi and the lobby gets laggy, they seem to be acting like that recently, which makes me think it might be related to the DDoS rather than an intentional design choice by rockstar. Im done giving rockstar the benefit of the doubt since they are forcing you into lobbies with hydra dickheads in an attempt to force you to buy shark cards since it takes no effort, time or skill to destroy people's crates and cars with the hydra. But in this case given the similarities to how the AI act when its laggy in general, does make me think its possible its related to the issues recently related to the apparent attack.

In gta online alot of traffic issues are probably due to the peer to peer system they use. The traffic in fivereborn servers don't t-bone you in intersections and they seldom switch lanes sporadically.

Edit: I do think the ai has gotten a lot worse and way more aggressive lately. No doubt about it.

All GTA AI is worse than it was in IV. There's a video on YouTube that shows how much they fucked it up.

Let me say there is a HUGE difference once hostile npcs are shooting at you nearby. It causes the traffic to go full on panic mode. They will cut across lanes, run red lights and try and ram you at all costs. Its not nearly so bad otherwise although they frequently make unexpected turns and stops.

The panic mode is what bugs me. It's one thing if the AI drivers are as shitty as possible. My main issue is that when they panic they completely violate the physics of the game and the car they're driving. They suddenly get preternatural skills similar to when an escort driver gets passed and suddenly apes out to retake the lead.

Every single driver suddenly able to accelerate and drive and turn at full speed, even when running on four rims. Yeah. Right. Sure, whatever you say Rockstar.

It's not just shots fired that causes the generalized panic response. I've noticed it much more frequently since I/E dropped, such as after hitting another car in an intersection or even just driving particularly wildly. And I'm not even talking about during I/E sourcing or delivery missions, because I've only done a very small amount of that at this point. I've noticed it just driving around, but particularly while returning crates to my warehouse, even when I'm half way across the city from where I gunned down the NPCs that spawned.

Hell, there was a funny one when I summoned my Buzzard outside my warehouse a couple of days ago. As usual it spawned in the middle of a traffic lane, and as usual the next vehicle to come down that lane stopped behind it rather than changing lanes and going around, because NPCs don't know what lane changes are until a player car is in range. But this time that vehicle was a motorcycle. Normally when I get in and fire up the Buzzard's engine, I hear an exclamation of surprise from the driver behind me, because he apparently didn't notice it was a helicopter until the rotors start turning. But this motorcyclist absolutely lost his mind. He gunned his engine, shot forward, slammed into the back of my bird, and fell off his bike. When he picked himself up off the pavement, he proceeded to run away on foot, screaming.

I just couldn't resist the temptation to send a missile off to follow him. I mean, who could resist something like that?

Two things that really fucks us being semi-legal entrepenuers in the realm of desirable automobiles.

All enemy NPCs on Car Sourcing Missions have their default accuracy dialed up to Very High.

This means those bodyguards chasing you in Schafter V12s and SuperVolitos can chip away at your repair costs at x5 the range with piddly Micro SMGs.

Subsequently with all the gunfire, civilians will freak the fuck out and be incredibly erratic to the point of "planned" collisions. Fucking you twice in terms of overhead.

Once you crash, the enemy NPCs catch up and nail you with more magnetized bullets to your car.

Don't get me started on those mandatory Cargobob ones where the car is held on a barge offshore. Those Buzzards? Fuck them.

I'm never doing the barge mission again. Those Buzzards are fucking cheating bastards. If I ever get that source mission I'm not even gonna bother with it, it's not worth the time or frustration.

Aye, give them the bird and peel away in your new Tempesta.

They either never playtest this shit, or an actual human being dev greenlit this shit to go live as "fun and functional" gameplay.

I don't think they playtest anything because time is money, and they can't afford to take 5 minutes out of their 10 minute programming time budget to do that. They don't care about making the game fun and challenging, they just want to make everything as frustrating as possible to coax you into buying shark cards. GTA Online isn't a game to them, it's just a money printer.

Aye, can't argue with that.

From intensely boring Special Cargo collections...

...to stupendously boring Sell Missions with Biker Businesses (seriously, someone greenlit the PostOP van delivery method and thought this was a good idea?)...

...to frustratingly annoying NPCs with perfect accuracy at sniper rifle distances with piddly SMGs in Vehicle Cargo.

This game could be so much more fun. But alas.

If fun doesn't translate to profits, they don't wanna hear about it. All I can see is some corporate shill of a man in a suit from TakeTwo Interactive talking about how their main--nay, ONLY--objective is money. In his eyes, the best way to get it is not to give the players a fun time, but a frustrating one that makes them reach for their wallets. It's insidious. I will never understand the people who defend that shit.

I had to resort to using the Hydra for that mission. Here's what I did,

  • get cargobob, park it on the beach
  • get hydra, missile the npcs guarding the car (the car won't blow up unless it's a direct hit)
  • park the hydra on the beach and fetch the car with the cargobob
  • put the car & the cargobob on the beach
  • minigun the first buzzard wave (full health and armor should make this first wave survivable)
  • hop in hydra and prepare for the next buzzard waves
  • win, ditch the hydra and cargobob the car to the warehouse

Of course I could just forget the hydra and just fight the buzzards with the minigun but they'll kill me at least twice before they stop spawning and I hate dying. And minigun ammo cost money.

lol Rockstar are the biggest faggots. They reek of desperation of trying to sell those shark cards. They are LITERALLY griefing their own playerbase with these updated NPC behaviours.

I noticed that shit first time launching the game after the update hit. It's a joke , i still can't believe they actually resorted to these desperate tactics.

Very very real. They try to make it subtle so you'll think that you're just overly sensitive to it because now their shitty driving costs you money.

Sometimes I just drive into oncoming traffic because at least they behave more predictably and seem less suicidal.

Over the past couple of days I've recorded dozens of clips of so drivers literally cutting across traffic to smash into me and cars spawning in front of me mid turn. It's infuriating.

Yes, it is true. Use the cargo bob. I use the Cargo Bob Jetsam in my delivery missions.

I deliver via oceans, hills, and countrysides, and avoid roads whenever possible. Other time, I stop, hide, and kill npcs until they spawn out.

any difference between that and the regular cargobob or is it an extra 200k just for the paint scheme?

I think it's just the paint. I haven't really noticed any performance differences, but sometimes, I think the military cargobob is faster.

Also, the Jersam doesn't float in water. I thought it did, lol, but nope.

[–]EvilBob65536Xbox One GT: Evil Bob 78 0

I also paid the extra $200k for the Jetsam CB. If there are any real differences from the original, I haven't noticed; except the Jetsam doesn't look like something vomited all over it.

thats disappointing. i was hoping it was slightly better so i could get a rare/different cargobob, but alas, army camo pleb life for me

Why are you guys running these missions solo? This is why you have a friend get into a buzzard or even better, a ruiner, and run security for you while you make your way. My friends and I take turns running security for one another on the I/E missions and havent had many problems yet, the ruiner can decimate at least 8 enemies before they become a problem and more if you're good with using the front mounted guns to take out tires. Buzzards are great too. Just have your buds do it while not in your CEO org and the NPCs won't even lock onto them, making the NPCs easy targets.

Non-Enemy NPC's

I think you misunderstand the actual topic of this post...

[–]you_got_fraggedhello -2 ポイント-1 ポイント  (2子コメント)

In my experience they still seem the same. We are just noticing it more now because it actually affects us.

no ... I'm a very dedicated driver (it's simply the part of GTA i enjoy the most) and play in safe lobbies (like-minded people) where i tend to be the driver for all various missions and jobs.

traffic AI has changed ALOT with the release of import/export, there's no doubt about it. and I'm absolutely certain the aggressiveness gets higher on car sourcing/delivery missions.
