About this project
The best-kept secret in the coffee world has been brewing for centuries. Cold brew coffee was invented in Japan during the 1600s, recently popularized by upscale coffee shops, and perfected for making at home with the Arctic.
If you haven’t tried cold brew yet, you’re missing out. The flavor is delightfully smooth compared to the taste of your usual cup, and it packs more than enough of a caffeinated kick to get you going in the morning.
Skip your morning trip to the coffee shop and save time and money during your morning routine.
Everything we’ve learned about cold brew coffee has been put into creating the Arctic. After discovering something so great, we couldn’t help but share it.
You don’t need to be a professional barista to make your own cold brew. The Arctic is specifically designed to make brewing easy at home.
So what is cold brew? It’s a way of brewing coffee in cold water rather than the traditional method of using hot water. Cold brew has a longer extraction process which gives it a few advantages over your typical cup of coffee. For one, it tastes a lot smoother. The familiar bite of hot brewed coffee is caused by fatty acids, which are left behind during the cold brewing process. This means it’s not only easier on your taste buds but on your stomach as well.
After brewing coffee grounds in cold water for a set amount of time (more on the ideal schedule later) you’re left with a coffee concentrate.
It has more caffeine by volume than regular hot brewed coffee, and can be used as a base for many different drinks: hot, cold, iced, or in a shake! The versatility of cold brew is a true game-changer in how you consume your daily dose of coffee.
Plus, with the Arctic, you can brew up an entire batch of cold brew at once to store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. It will stay fresh, flavorful, and still pack the same punch of caffeine up until the 14th day!
There’s a million reasons to love cold brew coffee made by the Arctic. But for starters, here are the main benefits we think you should know about:
The Arctic is incredibly easy to use. Here's our preferred cold brew method to get you started.
Remember, you’re in control of the brewing process from start to finish! If you like your coffee stronger, simply add more coffee grounds when brewing or brew for a longer period of time.
As part of your daily life, we knew the Arctic had to be designed with equal elements of function and form. What we came up with was something sleek, and simple to use, so you can easily add it into your everyday coffee routine.
The carafe is made of 100% borosilicate glass and has a capacity of 50.7 oz (1.5L) to hold enough cold brew for 1-2 weeks. The Micron Filter is laser cut with tiny holes, 200 microns in diameter, to keep coffee grounds from leeching into your brew. Lastly, the stainless steel lid keeps your cold brew fresh for up to 2 weeks with its silicone gasket restricting air flow.
The craftsmanship of the Arctic was meticulously planned down to the smallest detail. Each feature was chosen to enhance the entire coffee-making process, from the simplicity of brewing to enjoying the smooth taste in every cup. The Arctic is the better designed coffee system that makes better tasting coffee.
Your favorite cup of coffee should be as unique as you are. The choice is yours in how little or how much you want to customize! If you’re someone who is very particular about your coffee, you’re going to love making cold brew with the Arctic. From fine-tuning the brewing process itself to choosing which beverage to make with your finished cold brew, we’ve made it easy to experiment and find out what works best for you. The possibilities are nearly endless with the Arctic.
One of the great benefits of the Arctic is how customizable each brew can be. For all you coffee connoisseurs out there, you’re able to control not just the bean type or roast level, but also the brew time and water-to-coffee ratio. This affects the taste, aroma, and caffeine level, so you’re in complete control to adjust these levels to your liking and make your ideal brew each time. If you prefer to keep things simple, find out what works for you and stick to it.
Once you’ve made a batch of cold brew with the Arctic, you can use it as a base in a variety of coffee beverages. Not only can you serve it as hot coffee, over ice, or with cream or milk, but there’s also plenty of ways to think outside the mug. Try it in a smoothie or milkshake, over ice cream, mixed with your favorite spirit, or even use it to bake with! Any coffee lover will surely have no shortage of creative ways to incorporate cold brew into drinks and desserts. Here’s a few of our favorite recipes:
How does cold brew coffee compare to your usual coffee routine? Well, we’ve crunched the numbers to show you exactly how much of a difference the Arctic can make for you.
The Arctic isn’t just a coffee maker—it’s going to be an integral part of your new lifestyle. If you’re like us, you need coffee in the morning and it needs to be well-made. Cold brew made with the Arctic simply tastes better than regular coffee on every level: it’s smoother, more flavorful, and has less bite. It’s so good you’ll wonder how you ever survived on that other mediocre stuff for so long. The Arctic will save you money by avoiding those daily trips to the coffee shop, and save you time by brewing big batches at once that will last up to 2 weeks.
You’re going to love the versatility that the Arctic provides, which lets you adjust both the brewing process and your beverage of choice as well. Say hello to hot coffee, iced coffee, shakes, and anything else your imagination can dream up for cold brew. Best of all, the Arctic itself is a prime example when beautiful design is masterfully executed.
Because when all your guests compliment you on serving them the best coffee they’ve ever had, you’ll be proud to show them the Arctic.

As of December 5th 2016, we successfully reached our $75,000 stretch goal. A huge thanks to all of our backers for your support. Every Arctic Cold Brew System will be now be shipped with a beautifully crafted stainless steel coffee scoop. This stretch goal wouldn't be possible without all of your support!
Please be aware that we cannot mark any shipments as a gift. This is illegal so we will not be able to do this.
Our prices do not include VAT, GST or other applicable country taxes. Our terms of sale are CIF destination. Backers are responsible for any and all import fees, VAT, duties, taxes, post office fees, and or any other fees their country or government imposes, which in the past have ranged from 0% to 20% in the US and EU countries, to as much as 200% for certain South American countries. As we are shipping these products all over the world, it is impossible for us to build in the various duties, VAT and GST tax for each location through Kickstarter.
Shipments that could not be delivered due to an inaccurately provided address (including failure to update an old address) will have additional costs to be reshipped. Due to the size of your rewards, we cannot ship to PO Boxes.
Estimated Delivery: Once production is complete on all of the orders, we will provide updates for shipping dates. As you know with international shipping there can be unpredictable delays that are out of our control, however, we will do our absolute best to ship based on the predicted time frame.
Our team is made up of friends and colleagues, all of which have one major thing in common: we’re 90% powered by caffeine. Which is why we thought it was so fitting to collectively put our energy into making the perfect home coffee system.
We’ve been through a lot from day one on our long journey of developing the Arctic. We’re proud to share our creation with the world and appreciate all the interest that we’ve been shown by our supporters.
Because no matter how we spend our days, we all start them the same. And that’s with a good cup of coffee.
Risks and challenges
From the initial planning stages to prototyping and testing, the Arctic has been our top priority and we're proud of where we are now. At this stage, everything is ready to go. Our materials are sourced and our manufacturer is ready - we’re prepared to go forward with production. Of course, even with a solid plan, there is a potential with schedule risk: it is still possible that an unexpected issue may arise that causes a delay in production or an unforeseen situation with shipping like our container being delayed in customs. If anything does comes up, rest assured we will make sure to communicate it immediately so you are always in the know.
We will keep you, our backers, updated on the status of our project as it develops with full transparency. We are truly grateful for your support and we can’t wait to get the Arctic in your hands. Cheers!

All of the components can be separated for easy cleaning and are dishwasher safe, but you can also clean the Glass Carafe and Micron Filter with a soft bristled cleaning brush for bottles. You'll get the best results if you wash the Arctic immediately after use.
Specifically for the Micron Filter, once you've deemed your brew time complete (12-24 hrs is suggested but you're always free to experiment with what works for you), the filter should be removed and cleaned immediately for the best results every brew.
-
All the components are dishwasher safe, however only the glass carafe is microwave safe. The Arctic is made from 100% Borosilicate glass which makes it both microwave and dishwasher safe. Of course, as with microwaving any food or drink, you'd need to follow the proper safety protocols; i.e. no metal, only microwave the glass carafe.
-
We recommend a coarse grind for the Arctic so that only the naturally delicious coffee flavors are extracted. Finer grinds may result in particles escaping into your brew. You’re always free to experiment to see what grind level works best for your brew and taste.

The Arctic measures 5.82inches (128mm) in diameter at the base, and 7.8inches (198mm) tall without the lid; 8.19inches (208mm) with the lid.
The Micron Filter has a 2.75inch (70mm) diameter opening. The Arctic Carafe has a 2.875inch (73mm) outer diameter at the opening, and a 2.57inch (65mm) inner diameter at the opening.
