You have 11 first team players. Ideally you want another 11 players who are capable of taking the place of anyone who gets injured and then a couple of backups/youth players that could take the place of that player should he get injured also.

Having depth means having a player who is capable enough to perform if the first choice gets injured. Like we have decent depth for keepers, cause we have Romero

Basically having more than one player for a position in the squad in case of injuries, suspensions etc
