1. Hiro and I have discussed the matter, and as a result the mod responsible for this warning has been fired. 4chan has a templated system of bans in order to ensure that the rules are enforced in a standardized way across all boards, and this mod decided to circumvent those templates in order to deliver a political message. Doing so was highly inappropriate as it demonstrated that the mod's motivation was not to enforce the rules, but to enforce his personal beliefs. This is outside the mandate of a 4chan moderator, and grounds for termination.2. The screenshots from 8chan of a person claiming to be a 4chan mod are unrelated, and have every indication of being fraudulent. There are no mods that use that name, nor are there any mods in that age bracket. Despite all the rumors to the contrary, the mod team has not changed significantly for many years. Moreover, these screencaps belie an ignorance of our anonymous janitor application rating process and the measures put in place to prevent favoritism. Mods do not have the ability to engage in nepotism with janitor hires as all personally identifiable information about applicants are hidden from them, and they only rate a randomly selected subset of applicants. Multiple moderators have to give an applicant high ratings before they can be hired. Moreover, any mod behaving in a fashion similar to that claimed in the screenshots would be immediately identified and fired, as happened here.3. /pol/ is for discussing politics and current events. Right Wing Safety Squad threads are neither. These threads need to find another venue. /pol/ is far too crowded for off-topic stuff like this. Also there is significant potential for personal army bullshit in these threads, which we cannot permit. 4chan is not your personal army. 4. /pol/ has grown enormously in the past few years, and now completely exploded due to the election. Now more than ever we need to ensure that the board stays on topic and high quality. There's way too much off-topic crap being posted, both intentionally and unintentionally and we need all /pol/ users to help prevent this. Do not reply to off-topic posts. Do not post dubs/GETs, roulette derails, "your mother will die in her sleep" derails, or other /b/-tier content. Do not post blog threads or blatantly off-topic threads. /pol/ is about politics and current events. If you thread is not directly related to politics or current events, it should not go on /pol/. Read the sticky and abide by it. /pol/ will only improve in quality if you accept the responsibility not to engage in these sorts of behaviors, even if you perceive that others do.
Fair enough.

Hiro, real talk, I once got a 5-day ban for posting a pony outside of /mlp/. I went on IRC to complain, and the mod's response was that mods can arbitrarily lengthen bans. That was it.Is that just it then? Literally, if a mod has decided they're triggered, they can just be passive aggressive to someone they're banning with no consequence? This was in 2014- before you were 4chan's admin- but still.

>>894483Why not? Having seen the Safety Squad and the constant raiding activity, and other constant flouting of the entire set of rules for years on end, how can you say with a straight face that /pol/ does not need to die?
Manager/Hiro,In the last few weeks 4chan had its name out as a platform related to pizzagate, and is currently receiving significant attention due to the fire safety operation. As a reasonable prognostication, it's a matter of time until /pol/ would find itself involved in an issue that proves to be extremely controversial and/or illegal. This would undoubtedly bring significant negative attention to the site, and might compromise it as an open platform as well as an asset, in addition to possible legal exposure.I believe it would be prudent to take preliminary steps and to curb high-profile political activity originating on the website as a preemptive policy.Thank you for your consideration.(No need to reply to this post)

If nothing is wrong, nothing is wrong, unlike swatting. Even the issue of false reports is next to none because many cities are scrambling to get places in their records (either completely absent, zoned for residential/commercial/never inspected in the first place), encourage reports as there is no legal penalty for false or mistaken reports, and additionally, with many posters being firemen, marshalls or code enforcers themselves, threads took on a self argumentative and discussive culture over what was worth reporting and what violated codes. After all, they could just go and assemble somewhere safe. Freedom of association. Many left-wingers from reddit and elsewhere got mad over the loss of unsafe spaces instead of fixing them and raided /pol/, threads and posters got banned for it, with responses and reasoning being paperthin. Thank you.I believe pol was basically tricked into helping someone blow the whistle on dangerous illegal venues. I think the politics added to the issue were just there to get people excited about fire code enforcement. The whole intent was always a backhanded way to prevent another tragedy. The right is generally against regulations and safety measures. They were played like harp from hell.Politics aside those threads did a lot to raise awareness to necessary and life saving building and fire codes in places they were totally disregarded. This is still a good decision. Those thread absolutely didn't belong there. They were causing too much grief and that is unfortunate, but it is an absolute tragedy that 36 young people died horrible needless preventable deaths because people are more concerned with throwning cool underground shows than keeping their patrons safe. The people that attended and loved those places were never going to close them down, so it took people that hated them.I hope the places get up to code and reopen. If you want that to help volunteer and or donate money to your local diy venue and help make them safe and keep them open.

Countries move upward. Britain used to make textiles and coal. By your logic it would have made sense to prevent the introduction of polymers to keep textile makers from moving to Asia. The problem has never been your politics; the business community can overlook a surprising amount of political vileness. Just look at Trump for proof of that. The problem is your conduct, which has gotten bad enough that even advertisers can't afford to sit down at the table with your enablers.

>>895112/v/ is the biggest offender. It was always a dumpster fire, but /pol/ poured the gasoline on with Gamergate. /pol/'s inability to form a coherent argument or counterargument and reliance on buzzwords has also found its way to /v/. /vp/ seems to have suffered, but the influx of people due to Sun and Moon is probably still too present to tell for sure. I don't hang around much in the 40k general on /tg/, so I can't tell if /pol/ did the same thing they did with /v/ where an already bad community was made worse.
>>894474The ban reasoning was fucking accurate, though. Far more accurate than the countless other personalised ban reasons you idiots hand out time to time, yet never care about. All this fucking shit over what /pol/tards are doing even more increasingly these days. How about you guys just pull the fucking plug on the board already. /pol/ is cancer and things are only ever going to get worse. You know that, everyone knows that. It's part of the reason why m00t finally left, after throwing a very personalised tantrum and defacing the the board. Why the fuck do you keep giving these cancerous little faggots who are only causing damage to 4chan as a discussion website, the lightest of taps on the wrist for their behaviour which would not be remotely tolerated on ANY other board aside from /b/? Just how much ad revenue is /pol/ bringing in to continue to keep the board up? >4. /pol/ has grown enormously in the past few years, and now completely exploded due to the election. Now more than ever we need to ensure that the board stays on topic and high qualityYou delusional fuck. It is never going to be high quality and it is only going to get worse and worse while dragging 4chan through the mud more and more. That would be a consistent rule, so people know what is and isn't allowed, but would enable more organic conversation across 4chan while only harming threads that are generally seen as shit anyway. The main complaint people have about moderation here is that it's inconsistent, so this seems like an ideal solution to me.Yours faithfully,Anonymous /sp/ Banterer
>>895413>I DONT LIKE THE PEOPLE THEY ARE SAVINGThen change the laws you dumb fuckI hate our gun laws but I don't go around buying illegal guns expecting people to just let me do it because 4chan ratted me out or whatever reasoning youre using. The only argument is that it is "personal armying" which it kind of is. Hence why I support /RWSS/ but understand the ban even thoigh I dont like the ban.
Politics aside,Can we all agree that fire and building codes are important and save lives?I love going to these types of shows but there is no reason they shouldn't be more responsible when hosting a large public crowd. If a large property management company or chain of movie theaters were found to be grossly negligent of the same codes and people died as a result there would be massive public outrage from all sides and they would be closed without hesitation.

Regardless, I hope mods will crack down on /pol/ and /pol/posting leaking everywhere all over 4chan. This website has changed dramatically over the past 2 years as /pol/ became more influential, and /pol/ has also become a containment board of the worst kind.>Cuckposting>le kek xDDD>is X degenerate? (the new "Redpill me on X")>"Really makes you think" threadsSo much of it is fucking baitposting, and it's starting to leak over to other boards. It's pretty obvious that the quality on most of 4chan took a dip as /pol/ became more popular. Not sure if that's because reddit came here, or a failure to discipline /pol/ made these people think that it's fine to make all of their shitty b8 threads that all read the same on every other board. Also, bring back visible sage already. Removing that seriously crippled this website's ability to "self moderate" shitposting. Look at /g/ for example - instead of the shitty "Linux/Windows/OSX btof xD" fags getting sagebombed into the ground, they get 300+ (You)'s. It's fucking disgusting, and to be frank it wasn't Moot's place to make that decision on behalf of the whole website.

>>896227Exactly. It's hard to find people that won't try to ignore rules for their own benefit, especially when ignoring the rules can skew an entire board in your preferred direction. Political opinions make a mess of things. The way I see it is that mods basically shouldn't care about politics for the most part. But that's now really possible. It's especially difficult to find legitimately good people that are willing to sign up on 4chan. 4chan's poor reputation works against it in so many ways. They simply can't find the right people.>>896236I'm not saying moderation is perfect, or even close to it. I get the feeling that moderation is a much bigger mess than they want to let be known.

>>896257>I'd prefer if 4chan didn't really care about politics.Same here. When I say moderation, I also include janitors, because for all intents and purposes, they help moderate 4chan. The fact that there is NO MODERATION OF ANY KIND WHATSOEVER for the constant spam and offtopic that happens not on specific boards but SITEWIDE while very specific, completely ontopic threads get INSTANTLY DELETED without any notification by any moderators, and no thread being deleted late in the early stages of this kind of move, it's is crystal clear, with not a single possibility of mistake, that this is NOT what is happening here.

Why can't we have a board for discussing politics and current events? If it's not strict those things, it doesn't belong on /pol/. That seems simple enough to enforce. We need to crack down on this bullshit hard. /pol/ doesn't have to be a cesspool if we make it clear that that behavior isn't fucking welcome.Again, you guys should put a stick with this up on /pol/ because too many newfags are too dumb to get it on their own.

>>896345>You guys need to make a sticky with these exact words on /pol/.Seconding this. Too many successive generations of newshits have come to /pol/ who think the point of /pol/ is to be some hub of activism where they spread awareness of their causes to twitter and elsewhere while inviting people on the fence to come to the board to receive the "redpill" and thus themselves become an activist faggot who spams twitter hashtags and reddit upvote brigade links "for great justice" and the cycle continues. >>896771Agreed. Even a fish knows that he can avoid major problems by keeping his mouth shut. >>896774But I thought you said that's where they plot their next raids? That doesn't sound very malicious.
>>896778I'm not >>896750, btw
>mfw /pol/ gets a new full time authoritarian mod who cracks down with the banhammer and strictly enforces the no logical fallacy rule in the sticky
>>896795no mod or janitor has the time to read every fucking post.
>>896778Those quickly branch off to other threads like the RWSS did because of how fast the shitposting fills up every /ptg/. But it can be considered the roots for a lot of the raid threads.>>896798Not unless he decides to permaban anyone in violation of a logical fallacy which causes all that person's posts to be deleted. War of a attrition, sure. But can be done.
>>896747Community outcry against the illegal venues or community outcry against their closure?
It's disappointing that this is what got a mod canned. Mods are generally pretty cool and I don't hate them, so it's sad to see what was likely someone here for longer than a decade lose his mod status to because he got emotional over /pol/ shit (which is their entire aim). But, on the other hand if /pol/ was able to get under his skin then it might be better he doesn't have that much power. To play their game at all is to lose.
>>896698He didn't ban them because of rules and then point to the rule, he banned them because of personal faggotry and then shit up the warning with SJW bullshit.
>>894623None of that cancerous activism belongs here, fag. Take it to Twitter and Facebook where you belong. This is an imageboard. You don't belong here.
>>896808we likely made one of his personal flophouses safe again
>>896639>You have also been bannedYou seem like a quality poster.
>>896808If he was a long time mod he'd know you don't expose your faggotry when moderating
>>894483breddy nice
>>894685Manager is basedGuy doesn't fuck around
>>896798Who knows who Hiro knows.
>>896798Couldn't a mod just let automating take care of common logical fallacies? I don't think they would have to read every last post. Or what can be done is a mod script to add some kind of flair "this post contains a logical fallacy" to any such fallacies caught by a filter set up by a mod?
>>896808>It's disappointing that this is what got a mod canned. Mods are generally pretty cool and I don't hate them, so it's sad to see what was likely someone here for longer than a decade lose his mod status to because he got emotional over /pol/ shit (which is their entire aim).He was banned for abusing his position, which he'd probably been doing for years. The fact he was doing it with total SJW bullshit boo-hooing about marginalized groups and other tumblr-tier shit shows he wasn't really meant to be here anyway.I'm sure he'll find a subreddit more to his choosing and abuse the posters there.
>>896812
>>896821But the manager said that the moderator roster hadn't changed in many years. This implies that the mod must have been a long time one: there isn't any other kind.
>>896285Probably because the leftist mods ban you for that.
>>896746>It doesn't count as a current event if /pol/ manufactures it./pol/ manufactured the fire where 35 people died?
>>896827Then it would have be proven what fallacy it is, otherwise you could counter with a fallacy fallacy. >>896811Except this is wrong. He could easily just say it's a violation of GR 4 and just left it at that, but he went full retard and decided to vent at the people who he was banning.
>>894474What does a Manager even do? The only time I've seen you was that one time /j/ got leaked. Are you a girl?
>>896812t. we are legion
>>896837You'd have to be one disingenuous shit-eater to claim that RWSS threads are current event threads about the Oakland fire.
>>896841>Except this is wrong. He could easily just say it's a violation of GR 4 and just left it at that, but he went full retard and decided to vent at the people who he was banning. That's what I fucking said.

>>895186>>895262I'm sure I've seen this faggot making the same kind of shitposts on the /a/ metagenerals.
>>896859Lol that explains it. I was confused.Anyway, he was de-modded not for what he did but for how he did it and the completely inappropriate shit he said as a mod.
>>896850no they are current event threads about the Oakland fire and other cities' reactions to the Oakland fire
>>896869Of all the excuses ITT this is a whopper
>>896869They're not that either. Please don't make arguments that only an idiot or lawyer would buy.
>>896848Is it Opposite Day? The legionfags are exactly what I was speaking against.
>>894782Has action this extreme ever been taken so decisively before? I can think of maybe one other time when a mod was removed but even then I don't know if it was true.I can only imagine that team 4chan has become close over the years and as far as I know hasn't really grown either. Was this a first time offense for this mod or has he done questionable things before that justified this?I bet mod drama is fascinating as fuck.
>>896872there are a lot of rich, successful lawyers dipstick. some even go on to be president.
Thank you based Anonymous ## ManagerPs, if you came here from ctrl+f kindly off yourself, thank you.
>>896894He didn't say lawyers were idiots, or he wouldn't have said "idiot or lawyer."Lawyers, however, do make arguments nobody other than an idiot would make sincerely, because they are paid to do so.
>>896819I posted a comment about a funny footballers name on /sp/ and got banned for 'not sports related'.I don't decide what mods ban me for, faggot. It's got nothing to do with being a 'bad poster'. I didn't break any rules in EITHER case, yet I still got banned. You honestly going to sit there and say that every single ban is completely legit and within the rules framework? There is literally screencaps from back in the day of>Sorry, I had a bad day and want to take it out on someone>Perma BanSo shut the fuck up.
>>896829Politics shouldn't exist outside of /pol/, however. It should be fine to a anarchist-communist furry transvestite to be a mod as long as he doesn't act biased, which he was now proven to be. Politics shouldn't even exist outside of /pol/. But as a mod he must have seen hundreds if not thousands of /pol/ posts outside of /pol/ every day and he snapped. Even then, it doesn't make you a SJW to be against /pol/'s activist crusade to create homeless people because they have different political opinions, you know. I imagine the majority of mods and anons are against that outside of /pol, but it's not something to discuss on other boards.
So I go to /qa/ and the first think I see are two fedoralords duking it out in a cringefestIs this your board? Is this what goes on here?
>>896900If that perma ban happened on /b/, the mod was in their full right to do it.
>>896907/qa/ is where unhappy posters to go to scream into the void.
>>896907>Is this your board? Is this what goes on here?Yes. We also argue about ponies.
>>896906it makes you SJW to interpret an altruistic safety campaign as a crusade to create homeless people because they have different political opinions
>>896907Yes, it's awful. This is one of the if not THE worst board on the site.
>>896907yep

>>896808>>896906 That's the equivalent of saying it's bad that stalin was banned from his head position on the procapitalist society.
Probably late as hell but what about /vp/?Why does that board exist if /v/ exists?
>>897061Because it brings traffic.Don't expect any board to be deleted, ever. It's all about ad revenue now that Hiroyuki is in charge.
>>894474What did he mean by this?
>>897074Stop taking anything you read on 8gag seriously.

>>894474>it demonstrated that the mod's motivation was not to enforce the rules, but to enforce his personal beliefs>Right Wing Safety Squad threads are still bannedrapeape you're a fucking retard lmao
So I honestly don't know if those threads were illegal. Any induvidual fake reports are but can asking people to report illegal activity for whatever reason be a crime?

>>897079>Implying that it's a jokeMy boyfriend is on lefty and anarchos IRC and therr was indeed a bloke who fit the descriprion. This modbro/prickly cactus is a pedophile and a dude into beastality. Not just a furry communist/anarchist. Doesn't help he was a raging autist either so I'm barely surprised he got fired for spurging out with every progressive buzzword he could. It's not like the selection is flawless. Redwood and a fair amount of jani/mods were biased as fuck. It's not surprised at all if leftists go incognito to censor shit at all.
>>897102>The stories and information posted here are artistic works of fiction and falsehood.Only a fool would take anything posted here as fact.Of course. I'm also a femanon by the way.Redpill me on womens rights.

>>894828It's to spider face you idiot
>>894474RapeApe, you helped moot with /pol/ Harbor. Why did you now decide to fire a mod over something as trivial as some warning message? If the mod deleting the RWSS threads was a problem, you'd let those threads happen, but they're still banned. Are you sure you didn't have a personal issue with the mod and you just used the situation to fire him?
Daily reminder that /pol/ does not care for the safety they simply want to silence liberals
>>897194wow really? who would have thought that. I'm super fucking surprised
>>897128The thread get deleted lmfao
>>897118There is no mechanism to report this, though. There used to be a form on the site AND a notice to go to the irc to discuss this, but both were taken down when people actually started using them.
>>897194Wrong, faggot. /pol/ wants leftists to never shut up because their ideology is based on lies and deception. Leftists cannot survive honest debates.

If we are banning gets on /pol/ we should just remove dubs from it
and give them back to /v/
>>897206>latest question: 09/07/15 12:45 aka right around when the feature was removedhuh... really made me think...
>>896622actually pol has always likened the diy threads to a tiny little bonus after trump wonthey gave us some lulz at the expense of leftists in the short run but in the long run those places will probably burn down which is even more lulzystay crispy comrade, enjoy 8 years
>>897114>>897119>>897125I'm a bloke and regardless, they aren't lying. As a pointer I referred ro redwood as a example of mods or janitors being biased pieces of shit. Prickly cactus/Modbro is a real fella and considering I sometimes browse /leftypol/ and seeing them planning raids, it would not at all be surprising to me if they gor into the janitor teams. If redwood got in. Enforces aren't always just and nor and applicatiob programs. All the manager is doing is saving facee because he very well knows how big of a shitfit this site would chuck if they got the knowledge of moderators being biased.
