While on his “Thank You” tour across the U.S., President-elect Donald Trump took some time out of patting himself on the back to talk about how grateful he is for the “smart” African-Americans who “didn’t come out to vote” in the election.
“We did great with the African-American community,” Trump told a crowd at a rally in Hershey, Pa. on Thursday (Dec. 15) about how they listened to him and didn’t vote for Hillary Clinton in the November election. “And they’re smart, and they picked up on it like you wouldn’t believe,” he continued.
“And you know what else? They didn’t come out to vote for Hillary, they didn’t come out. And that was the big thing, so thank you to the African-American community.”
To use Trump’s own words against him…

According to exit polls, Clinton demolished Trump in the African-American vote, 89 percent to 8, reports The Hill. Essence reported that an estimated 94 percent of African-American women voted for the Democratic candidate. While African-Americans didn’t show as much support for President Obama in 2008 and 2012 (where he polled at 93 percent with African-American voters), they did show up for Hillary in a pretty healthy amount.
