Yea but Lingard consistently misses them. Ibrahimovic has missed them too but not as consistently as Lingard. Not having a go at him, I like him a lot, it's just an area he needs to improve. Constructive criticism. Ignoring the problem won't fix or improve anything.

He is one of those players that scores the difficult ones but misses the easy chances. That goal v Chelsea away and FA Cup final were very difficult finishes but then he misses sitters. Gets into great positions though. I like that about him

Yea absolutely! It seems to be just a composure thing, which is common in younger players and can definitely improve as he grows. When it's instinct he's great, he just hits it on pure instinct. It seems that when he has more time to think about it he's more likely to mess it up.

Lingard isn't playing striker and misses one chance a game, Zlatan at times misses two or three, thats football no player hits the target every time but when you miss a few and score it isn't highlighted.

Of all the guilt edge chances Lingard has had in his United career he's probably scored about 5-10% of them. If even, I can't think of a simple chance he's converted off the top of my head. His conversion rate from good chances is not good enough for a forward player, I never said he played striker like zlatan. Zlatan has missed more in the last few months but hes also gotten more chances and scored more of them too. Zlatan is also a proven clinical finisher. Lingard is a forward thinking player and most players similar in styles/positions will finish good chances well more consistently than him. He's a good player, I'm sure he'll improve that part of his game given time. I'm not having a go, it's just a an area of note, he definitely knows himself. I'm sure it's something he's working on improving, every player as areas they know they need to focus on in training :)

There's ignoring the problem and then there's singling players out. It's true that Lingard misses a lot of chances, but yes also true that zlatan misses a lot as well.

But that is basically ignoring the problem though. Sure zlatan has missed good chances this season. Probably more than he should have. He's also scored a lot. Every single player misses chances sometimes. But Lingard has missed those kind of big chances far more than zlatan, far more than most players. He's missed them more than what's an acceptable amount for a forward thinking player. Also, unlike zlatan, he's never proved himself as a strong finisher. He's a good player but finishing is one of his weak points. There's no problem pointing that out.

I agree rooney hasn't been doing well at all this game. Almost like he has no energy. You can tell zlatan and pogba are getting frustrated in certain situations with the lack of teammates around them. Rooney has made a few runs to open up space, but it needs to be happening almost every attack. He looks like he's played 90 minutes already

Happy overall with our half, but Lingard should have scored at the end.

I like that we switch our play a bit with both short passes and longballs and crosses.

Also Rooney hit the bar with the help of the keeper. Every game we play the opposition have at least one great save.

    • our midfield is fantastic, so much control and understanding between the three of them

    • cbs been solid too, done well to communicate and challenge 50/50s

    • what an assist from jesse!

    • pogba's passing has been a joy to watch, so much range and he makes it look effortless

    • carrick has been great too, making it hard for them to find any dangerous balls and he's freeing pogba up

    cons:

    • we look a bit vulnerable against phillips, esp valencia

    • havent been able to bag a second after creating a few solid chances, still early though

    • our movement was solid in the early mins of the half but we just stopped seeing circumstances where more than one player was making a runs into the box. need more of that

    im happy with the first half performance. we look up for it and managed to score early while being strong in defense. we need to get a second early, cant bare to go through another nail biter

    Not really comfortable with Darmian. Most of their chances seem to be coming down his side and then on the attack Darmian pretty much does not add anything. I think we'll concede considering West Brom are playing pretty good so hopefully we can get a 2nd (Lingard really should've scored)

    Left side definitely looks more vulnerable with Rooney/Pogba/Darmian than the right with Lingard/Herrera/Valencia. I wonder if switching Herrera and Pogba might help balance it out.

    Wayne and Lingard definitely play better where they are. I don't see why playing left or right in the centre of midfield should have a large effect on Pogba's game.

    Im not sure if this has been said before but I love the interaction and general relationship between Pogba and Zlatan, Zlatan is kind of like a mentor to him on the pitch. Gently criticizing him and telling him what to do, where to pass etc. I like that even though Pogba's a pretty good player he is still getting criticized and he seems to be taking it on board and trying to improve

    An example was Zlatan's goal vs Zorya where he was saying to pogba something like "see what happens when you play quickly"

    The players seem a bit too lethargic. Taking too much time on the ball, waiting for runs, misplacing passes here and there. Wonder if it's fatigue or just lack of motivation because of the first goal, I hope they don't rue this and stay on course for a win.

    It appears in on the minority but I think that was a pretty poor half in terms of attacking. Zlatan and Rooney just don't do it for me, one of them have to be dropped. Neither of them like making of the ball runs.

    To be clear I don't think either of them are playing particularly bad, I just think the team isn't creating chances like we have been.
