What do you ask for?
My friend and I were having this conversation. Figured I'd get GAF's take on it. I said a completely new engine built from the ground up(or something already very capable). He said get rid of the voiced protagonist.

Outsource it to Obsidian.
New Vegas was no fluke.
New Vegas was no fluke.
No loading cells for interiors/exteriors.
actual quest design
Give the rights of Fallout series to Obsidian.
Both of those and about a million other things they need to do. One request ain't gonna be sufficient unless it's 'do better at nearly everything'.
Either one of those:
Give us Spears as a weapon type for Elder Scrolls. (more realistic)
Make them more complex, not watering them down further. (Absolutely impossible)

Let Obsidian develop Fallout games.
Better animations!
Their engine and its animations are so archaic by now. Everything feels so stiff. I would love for things to feel more organic and physical. It's one of the few areas mods haven't really been able to improve either.

A new engine for Elder Scrolls.
Elder Scrolls VI by Obsidian.
No more voiced protagonists.
Do actual RPG's with some action, not action games with some RPG influences.
Ditch the whole cell system (no windows looking at the outdoors inside houses, cities all closed up by walls, etc). Look at the Witcher3. Give a big focus on emergent AI, with machine learning, make it truly next-gen.
I'm on the "Give Fallout to Obsidian" train.
One request?
Study the games that are considered to be the best-written and give the player a lot of agency, stuff like Planescape Torment or Deus Ex or Fallout New Vegas, and strive to create a game with that level of writing and player decision-making. Different ways to tackle situations, maybe even a pacifist playthrough.
If you ask for that, you don't have to ask for stuff like getting rid of the voiced protagonist, because presumably they'd get rid of it on their own when they realize the sheer amount of recording that would need to go into it.

Hire the people who made New Vegas.
Go Dwarven or go home.
Take everything that was done well in Morrowind, and translate it to Valenwood, with the quality of life improvements from Skyrim.
I want them to give Obsidian another chance, and then sadly, I want Obsidian to fail so that I can stop reading about them in every Bethesda thread.
Guys, much of the key talent behind FNV left Obsidian (Chris Avelone, Josh Sawyer, in particular). They're still a solid dev, but they ain't what they once were.
Make Fallout 5 in house but readjust priorities.
New IP on a new engine
Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"
Stop whatever you're doing and make Elder Scrolls VI.
Take the philosophy behind New Vegas's Hardcore and Fallout 4's Survival mode, and apply it to the next Elder Scrolls game.
Just ditch that tired old fucking engine, use unreal 4 if you want, but I'm tired of every game looking so similar with just better textures and more polygons.
Outsource Elder Scrolls to From Software or Square-Enix.
Outsource Fallout to ex-Bioshock developers.
Arkane, MachineGames and id can keep doing what they're doing.

Morrowind Remake
first post nails it as usual
Make an actual RPG.
(Much) better writing, please!
Keep publishing good games made by other developers.
I think they should definitely use a different engine of course, but if it isn't something internal I wonder what modern engine would fit best with their shtick?
Thematically, for Elder Scrolls I'd love for them to move away from a hero/main quest-centric narrative and just give us a giant simulated world to be a part of. Basically only side quests and far fewer of them, but more of a focus on creating a believable world with more slice of life and simulation aspects.
For excitement, they could choose a warring states theme, maybe go with Elsweyr (really want the next setting to be jungle/desert) where each state has aligned behind one of the daedric gods and they are competing for supremacy, and you are born into one of these states but can participate in their various political and military schemes by making your way up the rankings from the ground up.

New game engine. They make enough money as a publisher to create an in-house engine that isn't complete shit.
And then Obsidian.
And then Obsidian.
Co-Op
Hire writers. Much better writers.
Ditch the old engine, I don't care how much you guys have updated it.
Edit: Actually, I changed my mind, I'm going with the poster above me. Get better writers.

Yeah. I was wondering why he said that. They just did a stream on Twitch about a week ago and Josh was answering questions about PoE and PoE2 for days. We asked what happened to Jason Bright and his followers, and Josh replied with "Heh. Good question" hahaOriginally Posted by Rexatality

Tolerable moment to moment gameplay.
Get Bethesda Softworks and ZeniMax to shut down with all parties responsible for hostile takeovers publicly and permanently retiring for holding Human Head's years of work hostage and what they've done to other devs in the past.
Close down BGS and hire Obsidian for everything.
Fallout 5 and just change the speech back.

My mistake, I was under the impression that they trimmed down the studio and he left along with Avelone.JosH Sawyer didnt leave...
But still, I'm not sure if they're capable of doing a game of Fallout's scale again. Especially on the level of F4.
Obsidian gets Fallout.
Seriously, Obsidian has made games that are infinitely better then the original model underneath a significantly shorter time period. New Vegas, KotOR 2, etc. If Bethesda actually didn't fuck around with them, I'd bet they could make something even better.
