Ableist slurs to avoid? (self.socialism)

I know that this sub has a rule against using ableist slurs (and as an autistic person, I appreciate that very much), but I wanna know which slurs to avoid. Is st-pid out of the question? D-mb? I would like a list of slurs to avoid using.

I don't mean this to be flippant, btw. I just wanna know.

Well, I would say it's much more important to think about the meaning and impact of words than to compile a specific list. In particular I'd steer clear of aiming any sort of intelligence-related insult at a person. It might be more debatable as regards using them to describe things other than people (for example "a st-pid decision") but really it still seems to imply something about intelligence and it's not as if there aren't alternatives. I would normally try to err on the side of caution, since it seems like I don't lose much by avoiding phrases that are even just borderline.

I have Aspergers' and no word by itself offends me, only the suggestion that I am incapable of something because of it offends me.

I got into a small argument on a anarcha-feminist page and called someone a keyboard warrior out of anger. To my surprise they got extremely upset and called me ableist etc. I apologized, but I'm still not sure how that is ableist, can someone please explain that to me?

I think maybe because the implication is that if you're not out in the streets doing something, and instead fighting from your keyboard, you're not doing anything useful / you're doing something wrong, while that may be the only action some disabled people are able to take

I try to comment as technically as possible, focusing on the essentials of the issues while avoiding any personality assessments of the specific individuals involved. I think that makes for better arguments here and in the field, because emotional discussions at the micro-scale trend away from favorable equilibrium.

St-p-d is definitely on the list, I just got back from a temp ban (although I agree in general with the mod team), D-mb I am almost certain would be too, and that one I agree with them much more on.
