What SOMNOVA can do?
When snoring is detected, Somnova gently moves your body to its side and relieves snoring.
Somnova would not raise your body totally up. The speed of inflation and deflation is very slow, which you could even not perceive an obvious change. This process is so gentle that it would not wake you up.
When you are asleep, it will monitor your body movements and breathing patterns and adjust itself to stop you snoring.

Why SOMNOVA is amazing?
Why do people snore and how dangerous is snoring?Generally speaking, snoring is the result of the relaxation of the uvula and soft palate. These tissues can relax enough to partially block the airway, resulting in irregular airflow and vibrations. These vibrations are heard as snoring.
Snoring is known to cause sleep deprivation to snorers and those around them, as well as daytime drowsiness , irritability, lack of focus and decreased libido. It has also been suggested that it can cause significant psychological and social damage to sufferers.Multiple studies reveal a positive correlation between loud snoring and risk of heart attack (about +34% chance) and stroke (about +67% chance).
How can SOMNOVA relieves snoring?
Although there are many proposed snore solutions, it is uneasy for people to find an effective and non-invasive product. Sleeping on the side instead of the back is a simple and effective technique to reduce snoring (which prevent the tongue from blocking the throat). The problem is that it is hard for snorer to keep sleeping on the side all night and nobody has the patience to continuously overnight just nudge or push their partner very gently to stop their snoring.
There is a snore monitor and a mini-pump in the gray case placed beside the bed. The mat consists of two airbags. When the case perceives your snoring, it will pump air slowly into one of the two airbags. As one of the airbag inflates, it softly pushes you to your side and encourages your body to remain on its side. Then snoring is reduced!

Traditional method of Positional Therapy
During the War of Independence, small cannonballs were sewn into the backs of uniforms to keep soldiers from snoring and alerting the enemy. Sleeping on the side to stop snoring can also improve their sleep qualities. Therefore they can have better physical strengths to fight for the independence of America. Positional therapy has a long history and is commonly recognized by medical community. Some traditional methods is to put a pillow or a ball under your back to make it uncomfortable to lie on your back.
Why design a smart mat?
We have tried many traditional methods of positional therapy , such as putting a pillow under the back. It is very uncomfortable and uneasy to fall asleep. In the sleeping, because of this discomfort, it is easy to lie on the back and start to snore again. We hope to invent an automatic device that help you to sleep on the side only when you are snoring, but you can also lie on the back when you don't snore. Yes, this is SOMNOVA.
Why SOMNOVA is not a smart pillow?
Actually we have made many tests on inflatable pillow. But there are lot of nerves in the head and therefore it is very sensitive. When pushing the head, it is very easy to wake up.
On the other hand, it is possible that the airway becomes more narrow when pushing your head. Although you may not snore, but the next morning you may be more tired.
After more than a year of research and development, we came out with SOMNOVA.
