Rojo got away with Murder on Wednesday with This two footed challenge on Zaha. This is a straight red card in football these days and is incredibly questionable for a player to still attempt it.

Yet this was the second game in a row he did this. Here is his two footed challenge on Gueye last week.

It's baffling that a player would still attempt this knowing it's a straight red.

On the radio recently they were talking about players intentionally making fouls and getting booked/sent off so as to be banned from playing over the christmas break. This is backed up by an interview Howard Webb gave on BT Sport recently.

"It’s not something fans will want to hear,"

“A couple of times around about Christmas time in the Premier League players will want the time off. They will say a yellow card might suit my purpose. " [1]

Players in the Premier League have outright asked referees for bookings. I don't think for a second that making a two footed challenge is a "heat of the moment decision". Let alone to do it two games in a row just as we come into the fast Xmas fixtures.

TL;DR Rojo wanted to be sent off for the Christmas break.

sigh I too, saw the Paddy Power video OP, you don't have to copy it.

I really, sincerely doubt (at the very least hope) that a CB who has struggled with form and playing time, whilst battling constant criticism, would sabotage himself and the team he apparently loves just as he's getting the first team run of games that he wanted. And all for a day off on Boxing Day, no less.

Same could be said for Aguero, his tackle was worse than either of Rojo's and all I've seen about it is City and Chelsea fined for failing to control their players

I and Think you're right.

The positive to take away from this (if you or anyone looking at this has played football), will come across him with a slight intimidation... Knowing his is fully capable of lunging in like that....

As a footballer, that would cause me concerns and hence a +1 for us.
