Man management was a huge factor. Fergie always got 110% out of his players. Not just this, but everyone played with real passion and put it all on the line. Moyes lost the dressing room, as did LvG to an extent. Mourinho is the closest manager I can think of that has the man management skills that Fergie had.

Fergie elevated us to the next level. Before him, we were seen as a cup team. He constantly adapted with the game. I don't think we would be anywhere near the size we are now without him. Especially the silverware

Insatiable hunger to win. Excellent man manager. Was "The Boss" didn't take any shit. Was always open to new ideas.

Tbf I could go on and on, he was literally a once in a lifetime manager and the greatest of all time.

Aside from his personal attributes, which are well documented and others will expand on, he was given time to develop teams. This cannot be understated when you look back over his career at Utd. The board were no doubt under pressure at times when things weren't going right but they stuck with him and gave him the rare luxury of time. In the 20 second attention society we have today that just doesn't happen. Sure when Fergie was struggling at various times the tabloids would be gunning for him, but now with social media, everyone and no-one has a voice and the shitstorm is that much louder when a manager doesn't immediately produce a League winning team.
