I don't get the witcher three bandwagon... (self.gaming)

Hello I'm a female gamer from New York, and I've been gaming for well over 10 years. I look in this SR, and I see a bunch of people saying "Witcher Three is the best game ever! It saved gaming!!", and it's stupid. Why is it stupid? I torrented the game, and I played an hour of it and the game was trash. The end.

Ok the real question why is this game praised so much? It's not that good.

I played more then an hour that was a joke. I found more fun fallout 4 then this game.

quality post, dude.

Playing any game for an hour does not give you a valid impression of how the game is. Especially not in huge open world games like witcher 3. The entire starting area of white orchard in W3 is like a larger tutorial and not representative of the whole. It serves to introduce the player to the concept of witcher contracts and just the overall structure of the world.

As somebody who isn't into fantasy games at all and hasn't played the Witcher, any Dark Souls or many other highly praised games for that reason:

Your opinion is not an objective truth. Just because you don't enjoy a game doesn't mean it's "trash". The entire reason that there is more than 1 video game in existence at a time is because people enjoy different things.

Also, what's with having to mention your gender or place of residence in a post like that?

You pretty much only played the tutorial you should have kept playing past the tutorial to see how the game really is since tutorials can sometimes make you not want to play a game but you have to push through it then you will see how amazing the witcher is

The first hour wasn't the best part, once you get past that and into the story, it improves. But we are all entitled to our opinion. I personally hate skyrim

How many awards does fallout 4 have compared to the Witcher? The Witcher had everything from top graphics, great storytelling, loads of quest, and a unique combat system. Fallout 4, dont get me wrong I loved the game and have nearly 200 hours in it, was honestly a let down compared to previous releases. Atleast the Witcher improved on its series.

Awards are given based on opinions just like this post. And yes Fallout 4's story was worse then Witcher I'll admit that, but personally I like Fallout better.

Well the graphics, and the controls were good (PC on high), and the story was ok. But the rest of the game was a bore to me. The fighting seemed weird/out of place to me. I didn't really like the voice actors, and some other stuff.

If you have only played an hour of game you really aren't entitled to an opinion. The Witcher 3's story is 50 hours long. That is like walking into a movie, watching the opening scene for two minutes and walking out again saying the film is trash.

And just a side note, nobody gives a fuck where you are from or whether or not you have a cock.

It's a slightly better skyrim style game. Its not my preferred style game, or yours it seems, but fuck it, I don't want to play WoW either. Sometimes we aren't the target audience of a massive cash cow.

The problem with modern games not living up to its hype has nothing to do with the enjoyability of the game. In recent years games have become piles of money for developers and that's all they see, in most cases. Project Red actually tried to make a good game that they know their fan base would enjoy. I personally have played Witcher 3 about 25% of the way through before having to restart due to a SSD corruption. While I enjoy the game, I don't believe it to be the best game I ever played, and I also believe it to be one of the best games I've played recently. My first game on my old PS2 when I was a kid was Ratchet & Clank, it was my life as a kid, and it will forever be my favourite game, because it's what got me into gaming. (I'm a PC gamer now, just fyi) So if you don't believe a game to not live up to its hype, or you don't enjoy it... Then that's okay, the game was not intended for you then. I have a friend who's obsessed with all things lore related and he loves TES and Witcher games and any movies with deep lore.

What I'm trying to say is that games nowadays are heavily marketed towards the people that will certainly enjoy it, not the people who are on the fence. So if you don't like... Don't play it. Of course you only played an hour and decided to hate on it so I, and most others here, have no respect for your comments on the game. Enjoy :)

It was a satire post to see what the /r/gaming community would reply with. Majority would say they're unintelligent kids. I still didn't like the game. I played it for around 5 hours, and it just wasn't the game for me. I don't think I'll ever go back, and finish it as it's just really not a game for me. I like the RPG genre just Witcher isn't that good to me.

Yeah, it really isn't that big of a deal. Story was decent enough, but it didn't really bring anything new to the table and the combat was kinda clunky. And it looked.. Okay I guess.

My beef was how it was super hyped up, but didn't really bring anything new to gaming for as much attention as it got. Customer-Developer interactions went a long way with this one.

Generally when trying to persuade an opinionated paragraph you should use more concrete examples. I was all for seeing your side of the story until you said "just trash the end." I didn't like the game because I felt the cut scenes took up more time than the gameplay and I felt like I was watching a movie more than playing an open world game.

You're more than welcome to your opinion, just know that you're in the minority. Doesn't make a lot of sense to say "the game wasn't that good" if the vast majority of people disagree with you. You would have gotten a much more understanding reaction if you said something like "I don't think the game was very good"
