Quick note, I haven't slept in a few days so I might have gone a bit ranty and misspelled a bunch of things.
TL:DR justiceserved used to be awesome but now mods just ban for any reason they decide by making up rules that don't exist on their list. It's also become very anti-independent thought with the tactic of throwing out random buzzwords being commonplace. Be careful when you go in there and don't bother trying to discuss anything.
So I found justiceserved a while ago and it seemed like such a great place to watch shitty people get what they deserve, and there was no fucking stupid russian propaganda crap like stopadouchebag. Everything was really good for a while until i'd say about 6 months ago.
Around 6 months ago I noticed that many comments just started getting downvoted for seemingly no reason. So like the person I am, I started to ask about what was going on. That was not a good idea at all as it turned me into the target and I started to frequently have every single comment I made instantly downvoted multiple times on average to the -8 range. This is extremely unusual as I don't troll, I don't insult unless i'm insulted first, I don't say anything actually offensive etc... Usually getting -8 within seconds of posting a comment makes you question wtf was going on. I had absolutely no idea how to make it stop and even though I brought it up to the mods attention it's not like they really could do anything about it and so I had a brilliant idea.
I would just delete the comment and repost it hoping that who ever was brigading me like that wouldn't notice and then other people with level heads would actually start up a conversation. The reason it's really bad to keep around a highly downvoted comment is because people generally do not bother reading downvoted comments and then just add on their own downvote as they rely on everyone else to see if there is merit in the content or not. This means getting downvotes makes it more likely for you to get more downvotes. Getting a lot of downvotes also means no one will interact with your comment/content and due to the hiding feature of reddit comments/posts below a certain score are automatically hidden from most people who haven't changed their settings. To me that kind of activity is clear manipulation and a sign that someone or something is trying to really push a specific narrative or opinion so all others much be removed/deleted.
It actually worked great as many of my comments would miraculously turn around and suddenly i'd have +a bunch however that didn't last long. Whom ever was doing it figured out my plan and would just downvote as soon as I commented and would repeat until they hit the limit of how much they can downvote someone. Most people don't know but there is actually a limit to downvoting a user. I have no idea what the number is but I think it's in the 20-30 range. So I like normal am pretty relentless and wouldn't let them win because fuck that shit and fuck people who manipulate things or try to prevent anyone from sharing opinions/thoughts/ideas. Thought control is god damn bullshit and should be fought all the time. Eventually they found out that their downvoting no longer worked and so they went to the complaining that deleting a comment and remaking a comment was spam even though it's only a single comment that you have active at any time and you're only doing it because you're being targeted.
Well they complained well enough and I got banned from the sub because they claimed I was violating some rule although none of their rules said anything about deleting your own comment and reposting it. So I argued my case considering I didn't violate any of their rules implied or not but it was to no avail. To them for some unknown reason it was better to go after someone who's just trying to not be brigaded than to go after whom ever was targeting my content. Eventually I was unbanned and I was able to go back to interacting with people.
I get banned again at some point for my second time although I don't recall what it was for but i'm assuming it's for violating some rule that doesn't exist. I'm told that i'm not allowed to post the same comment over and over again and deleting the previous. So I no longer did that.
Now that brings me to today/this week. There was a thread that popped up which talked about a man who is being charged with a "Hate crime" because he pulled the hijab off of a woman's head. Like a few others, this was mind boggling to me because of how stupid it is to compare actual hate crimes to having someone lose their hat. In this thread I started out with being pretty surprised at the post and arguing about it in various ways as well as expressing the fact that basically all crimes are hate crimes since you don't commit a crime on a person due to love of them. Well as you can figure, I was heavily downvoted because of that. I also had a bunch of people just flipping shit on me, insulting me, throwing out accusations that I was a racist/sexist/super heavy amount of buzzwords in the goal of trying to discredit my opinion. Well sadly I guess it worked because I got downvoted all too hell and I quickly had to get rid of the comment.
Many others had the same sort of idea/opinion about the case and were also experiencing the same kinds of problems so I went in to help them out by backing them up a bit. Well this was also not a good idea because the same exact thing happened. So I started to try to go about things in a different way, by completely changing my comment and going at it as being concerned about the case and not angry about it. I was hoping to be able to discuss stuff without being attacked. I was wrong. I then met people who basically started to argue that white people can't be the victim of hate crimes, and that the concept of a "hate crime" label is to differentiate crimes due to the fact that "hate crimes" have a wide ranging and lasting effect as well as effects others to the point it could potentially make people not want to be apart of that religion etc....
As you can see where this is going, I tried very hard to argue/discuss things while being constantly bombarded with downvotes and insults. I even made a comment top OP asking what was up with the thread, considering it seemed as if people were only allowing one specific narrative to exist and no one else was allowed to have an opinion on things. Basically I argued that it was very counter productive to a subreddit as it makes people no longer want to participate in any discussions/debates/threads. That too was heavily downvoted. I continued to try to ask different questions, or make different comments while removing the ones that were being downvoted as that's just a smart thing to do but sadly the same thing always happened and it seemed like I just couldn't get away from it no matter where I went and commented in the thread or what I said. Eventually one person accused me of posting the same comment over and over again which is obviously false except in one incident in which he had a screen shot that showed one of my comments showing up a bunch of times all at the same time which i'm not sure why that would have happened.
Well one mod got to the screen shot and asked me about it. I said I don't know why that happened and that no I have not been reposting the same comment over and over again. I always ask a different question or make a different statement. Somehow that was taken as an admission and I was told that I had been warned to not post the same comment over and over again. I told them I had not posted the same comment over and over again at all, and that every single one of my comments was a different comment with some even being completely off topic technically. It didn't matter and I became banned once again for violating a non-existing rule for committing an infraction I had not committed. The mod just didn't want to listen to any reason what so ever and just inserted their own logic and or they just saw w/e it was they wanted to see.
It's just really sad to see that people are able to manipulate things so well that the victim of said manipulation is the one who gets banned. It's also sad that so many people were basically arguing against equality. That subreddit has basically just turned into a giant single narrative base with any dissenters being banned for w/e reason they decide.
