Thought I'd "hear out the other side," like all the good liberal folkTM tell me to do and it resulted in me legitimately thinking that putting a bullet in my brain might be a good idea.

Just a thought for anyone that thinks this is a winning strategy.

Yeah right after the election there was this "understand the other side because we are so divided " idea. I tried to do that by subscribing to the alt right subreddit. I figured it would be conservative views of young people etc. Took me about a day of shitty racist conspiracy theories to unsub.

They feed off of your pain. I'm stating the obvious here, but it's best to not let them bother you because they're happy if they hurt you. I'm not saying "don't feed the trolls" or "stop being so sensitive", it's just that these people literally feed off of the idea of you hating yourself. One of their top posts of all time advocates abortion in the USA BECAUSE black people get the most abortions. These are not nice people. Do not show them any feeling.

My worldview doesn't allow for "shoot nazis". Not when the "nazis" in question are just sad lonely people who get their jollies from being offensive in their online correspondence.

We have things like laws and law enforcement agents for a reason. The system is far from perfect but it's not exactly crashed. So long as they keep to their own trollish selves and just talk in generics about their weird little ideas about the world around them, they aren't doing anything illegal. Any time they start to do something illegal, you alert authorities.
