Parkland Senior Girls BBall Team take 3rd Place at the 32-team Vancouver Island Christmas Tournament!
by Scott Arnold - Monday, 12 December 2016, 10:29 AM

Our own Parkland Senior girls had a very successful first basketball tournament of the year this past weekend, as they ended up defeating a tough provincially ranked team from Southridge in a close game on Friday night and then a gritty Stelly's team on Saturday afternoon en route to a three win, 3rd place finish in the 32-team Vancouver Island XMas tournament!

Strong defensive play from all eight players led to many turnovers that turned into scoring opportunities, and our girls capitalized on many of their chances. It was a fabulous start to what looks to be a very exciting season upcoming!

Way to go Panthers, and good luck in your upcoming games!

Thomas Bennett controls the Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) router during Carpentry/Joinery 11/12 in block A.

Thomas is machining the components for a folding love seat that started out as a two dimensional PDF file which he has converted, imported, sized, and adjusted on the computer to suit his needs. He has invested a total of 2 hours of machine time so far, with plenty to go! Thomas is machining 3 layers of birch plywood which he laminated using a large vacuum bag set up. Each part takes approximately 25 minutes to cut out.
