Geez, what you posted makes the Gilded Age sound tame and nice in comparison.

Right? But isn't this what's happening? Just trying to figure all this out:)

I like the theory but the end state seems off. If the GOP is really for smaller government, I can't see them rebuilding these departments, effectively at all. They'll get stripped to nothing and then probably left to rot. And while the growth after the industrial revolution was staggering, it was directly dependent on manpower to operate. Businesses have been working to convert to automation ever since, and now they're pretty much there. We'll only see a growth in the wage gap and the size of unemployment, and how utterly ruined our environment and future generations will be.

So what is your take on our future as American workers? If the robots are taking our jobs (NOT the Immigrants as the Know-Nothing Trump Campaign promoted), how does one make a living? We're not all coding geniuses. SHOULD we all learn coding instead of manufacturing? Robotics? Westworld-style robot theme park design? Or just embrace a federally-funded yearly salary for all? Universal income?

Also: What do you think the draw to Trump is for inventors/captains of industry like Elon Musk and Bill Gates? Would LOVE to be a fly on the wall during their talks.

There's more than meets the eye to all of this - but Trump is throwing so many red-herrings all over the fuckin place it's difficult to get a handle on it all...
