Us CoD4 veterans just wanted this remaster to stay and feel the same, save for the obvious tweaks and improvements. We were even willing to swallow the pill that is Infinite Warfare, just to enjoy one of the best games ever made again. But no, they had to go and also litter our peaceful corner after we paid $80 for it. They couldn't at least respect this well-regarded game. They couldn't settle for fucking up only the recent ones. Unbelievable.

What is the major issue with this content being added to a remaster? I don't remember people complaining when they made changes to the halo maps with Halo 2 Anniversary. The items in these supply drops are purely cosmetic and have no impact on the gameplay whatsoever, including the melee weapons.

That's not what "boots on the ground means".

"Boots on the ground" just refers to there being soldiers on the front line. It means there actually being ground forces in combat. It doesn't literally mean your boots are stuck to the ground. Advanced Warfare, Black Ops 3 and Infinite Warfare all feature boots-on-the-ground combat.

They just added new melee variants, plus they made it so that melee is equip-able by holding Y. This'll end up like Bo3, where you could barely go one match without at least one person camping a corner to try out their new melee weapon. So they already kind of have changed gameplay.

Question for those that play MWR, are headshots still the go to way to get weapon skins in the game, at least the original skins? One of my favorite cosmetic requirements in games was headshots for skins. Made that metal ping noise so much more satisfying knowing it's adding up to a skin.

By what im reading, it's just skins and cosmetics, and Raven have said they plan to and want to keep it this way, because new weapons would ruin the Balance they have already for MWR. If they stick to this, and make them able to be unlocked without purchasing Supply Drops, i'm completely fine with it. Although the second they add a new weapon or a dab emote im fuckin out.

I implore anyone who is still on the hate-train for COD/Activision to give IW and MWR a try during this week for the free trial.

Oh fuck off Activision. No-one's playing Infiinite Warfare so they aren't making enough money from selling those randomised drops there. So what do they do? Add them to a game that never had micro transactions, never needed them and won't be better for having them.

They made plenty of money, it's Call of Duty. No one is forcing you to buy COD points, they aren't crucial for your enjoyment of the game and as of now they are cosmetic only in MWR.

I'll stick to Titanfall 2 and Overwatch

And it's shoe-horned into a game where it isn't a natural fit. CoD4 was not a game designed with these kind of mechanics as part of it and adding them as a financial excercise is not a positive thing.

Then of course you have the fact that other CoD games have started out with just cosmetic micro transactions, which over several months turned into micro transactions which effected gameplay and gave those willing to spend more money an edge.

Well the maps are Remastered versions from the original game, I don't know how that's not a "natural fit", the game modes they added (Hardpoint and Gun game) weren't created at time of release, Halo MCC had plenty of ideas added to the older games that weren't available at their original times that was widely praised as well. What's wrong with a slight modernization to a good game that didn't have options, like character customization, when it came out?

Anyone who plays Call of Duty knows that any weapon from supply drops does not create a game-breaking unbalance and their power is completely over exaggerated, while some stats on the weapon are raised some are also lowered, only a certain attachment can't be used, etc. to keep them balanced. Even if they were later added to MWR they will not be an issue.

A person running around with a melee weapon is going to be the exact same as someone with a shotgun so there is no difference in taking those players out. We don't know if they will add new weapons yet, we can't base this off what happened with previous games considering this is a completely different developer. Even if they do add new weapons so what, updating a new game with additional content and to make it feel newer is a good thing. With Halo 2 Anniversary they added the assault rifle and I didn't see people whining about balance then. If you don't like how the remaster is going, go play the original. On PC the original has more functionality than the remaster so there is that.

Shotguns have at least some range to them. Do you want your teammates to only run around with a beer bottle trying to be the first to post their new youtube video "25 kill streak with beer bottle!!!!"?

This is also CoD4 Remastered. People just wanted the original game with better visuals. It's really that simple.

What I meant to say was, if it didn't come across like that, countering someone wielding a melee weapon is going to be incredibly easy. Countering somebody with a shotgun is going to be harder than someone using the new content added to the game. I honestly couldn't care if someone gets that 25 kill streak, it's their choice and if that's how they enjoy playing the game go ahead. If people want to play the original, go and play the original. The original is a better game on PC because it has more functionality than the damn remaster. Those two specifically didn't but the examples you have used didn't contain multiplayer, Halo 2 Anniversary did add new guns aswell map changes to multiplayer and people didn't whine or complain then infact they were happy about it. New content is a good thing not a bag thing, if it's really that troubling go play the original.
