Who do you think is the best successor to Carrick's role from our rival teams? I really like Kante, wish we went for him last summer.

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg of Southampton. Newcomer to the league and has quietly imptessed. His height and technical abilities could potentially see him develop into a beast.

Kante and Carricks roles are completely different. As for our rivals I'm struggling to think of anyone who is similar to him, deep-lying playmakers are few and far between.

IMO much more defensive minded and has no where near the composure or passing range of Carrick.

Hahaha Kante? Nothing like Carrick. We could have done with him though that is true, he'd be great with Pogba and Carrick.

There are plenty of good players but not any just like Carrick yet. The likes of Harry Arter and Drinkwater are good, maybe with good development they could become similar players. But not sure. Remember when Carrick came from Spurs he was far from world class and he wants the type of player he is now.

So the option whether it's in the PL or abroad could be a non obvious option. A good young smart player who can read a game and pick a pass. Let them develop over year to try and be a Carrick.

Carrick is a player a club makes not a player a club buys dare I say he would take be as good at another club.

To be honest, I can't think of anyone in the Prem outside United, but I think Herrera could grow into the role if needed. He's comfortable on the ball and has looked decent when played as the holding midfielder.

Otherwise, United has a wide scouting network and I'm sure we have international replacements lined up.
