I don’t like shit about them young hoes. Not the air they breathe, not their bony-ass, slim, up-and-down pole bodies.

I don't care about the Serena Chacha's of fandom. But they should just respect the queens even those they don't like. They like to pin down queens they hate and it ain't cute.

By younger generations, do you mean those overly emotional nine year old looking children making reaction videos at youtube as well as those that likes to comment "Chad about to die", "u need to pay for what u did", "Mommy?", "she doesn't deserve to win", "i hope u fall down somewhere", "maj eye roll", etcetera and so on? Truth be told, I don't mind them, but I do mind if they can't let the fuck go. They need to realize that the show isn't for kids for a reason, there's a difference between the Queens in the competition and the Queens in real life. They're human too, and I think immature people can't handle the show just yet. A good number of the people that make those hate comments towards Detox, Phi Phi, Alaska, Willam, Shangela, SLM/henny, and even Ru aren't even of legal drinking age. How I feel? nothing, just eye roll, because I can't do anything about it anyways. They chose to watch the show, so...

Ugh yeah I feel so much the same. Even though it is supposedly a "family friendly" show we all know it really is so adult. Drag queens are overtly sexual, they are devious, they are subversive, they perform in the shadow of night, watched through an alcohol haze. Just throwing them under colorful lights and putting them on your tv screen does not change this. Of course the queens have wonderful lessons to teach too, but most of these are probably lost on the youngsters too. It's hard for me because I was 19 when the first season came out and I thought it was absolutely the most wonderful show that was so in line with my own identity. Would I have felt the same way if I saw it for the first time when I was 10 years younger? Who knows, probably, and I sure as hell would have been entertained and intrigued. So it probably isn't fair to put them down and yeah, it's not like we can do anything about it anyway. It's just a tricky thing when marginalized cultures and people suddenly become "mainstream" and embraced by people everywhere who may not understand the struggle that it took to get there. Another problem is the one that Katya talks a lot about that they are like super-accessible celebrities and everyone feels it's their right to have access to them and to get to meet and hug them and be their bff and even if they are too young to buy their way into a performance, they still feel that it's their right to be able to access the queens. Oof, anyway...

I agree, but I think it's okay to watch the show. The content outside of the show is more adult tho. And when I say adult I don't necessarily mean 21+. I understand where they're coming from but the queens are not producing content for kids. I think it's all fine tho, you can be young and mature and be a great fan, it doesn't matter what age you are. But it is noticeable some really young fans being too much on social media and I think that's when it's weird and becomes a 'problem'. Anyways, we should just ignore them, the same way I'm sure the queens do.

I would classify myself as they younger generation, I'm 19. I started watching with season 7. I was kind of surprised I had never heard of the show considering its cultural impact on our community. In general, I feel as though some fans are obsessive and take the show too seriously.

I have no problem with the younger generations. I feel the same way about them, really, as I do the older generations. We're all watching the same show, after all, so that's something we have in common. What I DO have a problem with is any generation of fan that seeks to be hateful or threatening, or personally seeks to make a queen uncomfortable or victimised. And I feel we get that with both generations- in the Cardiff Christmas Queens, it was younger and older fans booing Phi Phi, which is unacceptable regardless of how you might feel about her. I have a problem with the obsessiveness of fans that seek to do the "fuck my pussy with a rake, mom" thing, send death threats, and generally do things that you would never do to every day people. At the end of the day, it's just drag, and if we both enjoy it, have that in common and you are a decent person I will have no reason to have an opinion on you. (And by you obviously I don't mean you, OP, I'm not too great at getting my words down! :) )

Some of the younger fans...the level of unprofessionalism, far too much. Seriously though, when I was a kid, I stanned hard for Doctor Who and I was never a dick about it. Kids these days have grown up in an age where they can talk shit on social media and have very little consequences.

[–]highwayuni 3 ポイント4 ポイント  (0子コメント)

Eh, as long as they're respectful of the queens then I don't really mind them. I started with S5 and then decided to watch from S1. I just hope the show inspires them to check out other seasons and research more into drag herstory.

[–]akialvamthwoorp 2 ポイント3 ポイント  (0子コメント)

All good. I don't mind unless when they're annoying/too cringey/hateful on social media and kind of spoil the 'fandom' for everybody. It's important to say tho that the problem is not specific age but immaturity.

[–]DevonRoars 3 ポイント4 ポイント  (0子コメント)

I don't think they're the only ones that hunt the queens down and throw passive aggressive shade with locked accounts. The older generation does it too.

I'm 18 and I just started with All Stars 2. Some fans worry me. Because of the show, younger and less... put together generations have access to something they are not fully ready to handle.

[–]AnthoZeroKatya Zamolodchikova 2 ポイント3 ポイント  (0子コメント)

I am apart of the younger gerneration.

I hate the fans apart of my "generation".

They are extremely immature, narrow minded in the aspect of drag (all queens have to be like pearl or violet), they don't have any opinions that they make themselves (if I see it on Instagram it must be true) and they think they know everything and anything about the drag community.

I feel almost ashamed to be apart of their generation because the ones who are extremely immature and annoying overshadow the ones who are regular, intelligent, people.

That being said, sometimes the older generations aren't completely nice either. They can be quite bitter, but they DO (most of the time) have a reason.

I try my hardest to not be super rude to my extremely unintelegant, borderline toxic, peers, but most of the time it's just easier to ignore them because they don't take anyone else's thoughts into consideration ever.

It's usually just immaturity that's bad for the fandom, granted its easier to be immature when you're young too. But when the Alaska hate was going on (eye roll) those people sending snake emojis and saying to Alaska "you're a bitch and Sharon was a bitch and you're ugly and trashy jinkx deserved to win over you team Katya" were young and older. My point is everyone sucks!

[–]puzzles13Tatianna 1 ポイント2 ポイント  (0子コメント)

I mean, I started with S6 so it's not like I'm an old hoe either. I think that as long as you know your herstory and are respectful, how long you've been a fan doesn't matter

I started watching like 2-3 months ago, but in that time I've watched everything except for season 1, 8, and all stars 1 (which weren't on stan). I had to watch all stars 2 on a shitty free steaming site in the worst quality. Idk if I count as a "young" fan being nearly 21 but I'm definitely a new fan. As for the people who leave the "villain" queens death threats, get a grip, get a life and get over it. Does seem like it's mostly the pathetic 16 year olds but seriously, to actually take out time of your day to message a queen saying you wanna throw acid on her or call her the N word is all kinds of fucked up. People are so easily manipulated by dramatic music put in place to sway them to hate a contestant lol

[–]copystopstartKatya Zamolodchikova 1 ポイント2 ポイント  (0子コメント)

It's the inability of a lot of younger fans to have a measured discussion. When I was a teenager in the 90s I once wrote a scathing letter to a music magazine for their poor review of Spiceworld. I told the person who wrote the review to choke on his boyfriends dick. They published it.

I feel weird about them, and here's why. I started the show when I was like, 12 le gasp, so I understand the mentality, seeing as I had it not too long ago, I'm 17 now. That being said, I would've never acted a fool online as these young kids are doing now, although who knows what I would've done if I had reddit or tumblr like all the kids now do. So part of me feels pity for them, because they're gonna look back and be embarrassed by acting a fool like that, but on the other hand, I feel like they should all try to calm the fuck down when it comes to who they "stan" (If someone dislikes fucking Katya, let them dislike Katya) and who they hate (I hated Jasmine Masters just as much as the next person, but calling her the n word, along with Kennedy, is uncalled for).

define younger generations exactly? born 2000 and i've watched the show since first season not even knowing what it was

[–]FeckinLemons 0 ポイント1 ポイント  (0子コメント)

I started watching the show maybe 2 months ago, with season 6 (I've since watched almost everything except season 1,2 and 8, but I'm getting there.) I don't think that makes me any less of a fan, though I'm 22 not a teenager that would be a crazy fanatic.

I guess I'm just happy to see so many people take an interest in something so niche. So once they're respectful and not psycho, who gives a shit how young they are or what season they started watching at? It's all love.

[–]virgoselfiesAlaska Thunderfuck 5000 0 ポイント1 ポイント  (0子コメント)

I started watching during season 2 and was lucky enough to still access season 1 on Logo's site before the "Ruvealed" nonsense. The newer fans don't bother me so much as I feel like earlier season queens don't get their due. For example, Henny and Tati have an audience, but I was so Team Alexis during her season and she's not really taken seriously around here. I don't feel like they've done the research to go back and watch every episode and see the value of every queen. Starting at season 7 isn't necessarily bad, but if all you know is the later seasons, I don't think you really get the essence of the show. I think I just wish there were more people around to discuss the early seasons and their impact. To be fair though, I think I might count as a "young" fan.

[–]abernattine 0 ポイント1 ポイント  (0子コメント)

I'm one of those young hoes (17 going on 18 at time of writing), and i came into this sub in the preseason of S7. so I don't usually like it when this sub generalizes everyone in this "young messy twink" category(even though I'm all those things). I only watch the show and the queens performances online, so I know I'm not the most well versed drag fan, but I feel like I keep myself relatively in check and I think that there are definitely other members of this sub who are underage and know how to handle themselves.

That said, I completely get where the general disdain for messy young fans comes from, some of these other bitches get real shitty, but i don't think being a toxic asshole that goes for queens in not cute ways is an exclusively young fan problem, just a general asshole-ism on the internet kinda thing.

[–]Halloqween 0 ポイント1 ポイント  (0子コメント)

I don't really see a huge correlation between age and when you started watching the show. I'm 22 and I've been watching since season 4 but I know people who are 30 and started watching around season 7 and 8. Annoying fans can come at any age, and as long as you're respectful towards both the queens and other fans there won't be any problems. But like a lot of people can stand to take it down on social media a few notches. I think some people forget they are real people and you have to treat them as such.

What's there to feel about it?

I started watching with All Stars 2 while it aired. I did miss out on a lot of references, and a lot of stuff was spoiled, but I plan to go back and watch that season once I go over all the other seasons. I've watched 5,6,7 and halfway through 8.

It surely isn't as fun knowing who wins, but I never know who makes the top 3 and such, so that keeps me entertained.
