I was there and more than two people laughed, as has been the case during other shows they've had.

Ultimately, they get to say what they want since it's their show. In the past they've been receptive when people have had a genuine issue with something in the show, but you'll need sound logic rather than excerpts from your favorite websites / TV sources.

Does bald Dude know he's alienating at least half of his audience ?

You really think half of their audience is Trump supporters? lol ~70% of people that voted in Travis County last cycle voted for candidates other than Trump. It's really amazing when you consider young people still don't vote in meaningful numbers. If you carved out people outside of their target audience, over 50 and the rich people in western Travis County you will probably find most of the 30% are not represented at their shows. If I had to guess Trump supporters at a MPT show is probably around 2%. Going a step farther while their jokes in the intro are repetitive, however they sell out every single show they put on and their shows are pretty good. Much better than MST3K or RiffTracks. Their Fifty Shades show was awesome.

It's not possible to be too anti-Trump.

Go back to Pflugerville if you don't like it and leave the tickets to the people who enjoy it.

Funny how your personal experience is imaginarily expanded to be "half his audience".

I am sure the ticket sales will continue to reflect his popularity with an accuracy that seems to evade you.

At least half? Where you getting those facts from, the same place you got the unproven mental ill trucked in audience members claim. You guys got so conned, if it wasn't so important I would feel bad for you all.

What is the point of saying 'Hillary is a corrupt crook' when you're defending one of the most corrupt crooks of note this century? It's like saying 'vanilla ice cream is disgusting' while you're blowing a bowl of vanilla ice cream.

[–]ATX_native 17 ポイント18 ポイント  (0子コメント)

Don't worry. Hopefully people that supported Trump will realize they just put a Trojan Horse in the Whitehouse. Trump is out for himself. He has already walked back most of his rhetoric. Hell the first deal he supposedly worked with Carrier is contra to what he said on the campaign trail. Getting tough with companies that outsource jobs through taxation and tariffing them into submission? Nope, just hand them $7MM in tax breaks to keep 800 jobs. This week Carrier announced that many of those 800 jobs will go the way of the Dodo soon because of automation. Looks like Carrier won on that deal. We will never be a manufacturing powerhouse because soon that won't be a thing and Trump knows it.

I don't think at any point I've posted in this thread in defense of Trump aside from the omission of his presence in office as of today and prior.. oddly enough for as much as people keep saying or suggesting that, actually my rants are a criticism of how shitty people who have actual,t been in office and performed damage, ought to not be revered as Angels and rock stars or get a pass by demonizing Trump with unrelenting anger as if he has been in office. Or as if he carries the legacy of Clinton-Bush-Obama incestual dynasties.

But it is the blindness of liberals that have cornered me as a Breitbart enthusiast, trump evangelist. It's interesting. Liberals are touted as being open minded. They don't appear to be.

I'm just arguing it's a lame joke and dividing his audience and reducing the laughs. Not seat sale count or overall laughter because MP is bad fucking ass. BUT It's quieter in the theater during the Trump portions. I've gone to MP a lot and my ears still work for now

Though this thread is (predictably) mass downvoted and all my comments some of my comments are zero sum or only one or two negative in net. Further indicates we may actually be divisive even in this otherwise.. Again predictable rhetoric sub.

Its so excellent I won't let my distaste for one portion of it ruin a good thing.

Thanks though! Profound of you to throw it out there,

does he not realize the violent people at trump rallies were mentally ill patients paid 1500 a pop and bussed out to cause havoc and a PR situation by Hillary and George soros, the puppeteer of obama and Hillary, yours truly?

Sources that aren't "Conservative Report"?

The rest of your post - It sucks he is a broken record - I don't think folks would be thanking Clinton as a "savior" but I can see what you mean about gloating if she won - Obama was supposed to get us to all report to FEMA camps and gun grabs according to many folks 4/8 years ago - Folks are now getting pretty worried about Trumps appointments and I can see no reason to disagree with that.

[–]atheistvagina 20 ポイント21 ポイント  (9子コメント)

It's a very simple fix, don't go to anymore shows. Seeing as how they always sell out, and the Trump rally joke has been a staple of his intro for over a year now, I can safely say your presence will not be missed.

You've seen their show more than five times, love and recommend it, yet you have such low respect for John, an awesome guy in the Austin community that won Jeopardy once, that you can't refer to him by more than "bald guy"? Come on man.

Get out of here with that "not more than 2 people laughed" nonsense. Where were you sitting? Nearly the entire theater laughed at every single Trump remark. The first show picked "Batman Returns" because the pitcher wrote an anti-Trump pitch for it, and "Fuck Trump" almost won as the drinking game phrase which means the majority of the theater had to be cheering loudly for it.

I was in the balcony and could hear the insane laughter at every Trump joke. Well, except from the older rich/drunk white couple sitting next to me heckling the movie choice... I swear they didn't laugh once at a Trump joke. Was that you?

[–]realname13 16 ポイント17 ポイント  (0子コメント)

not to get a diluted "through the lens of a liberal" middle school level civics type chat with very nuanced details, about what's going on in the world

It's Austin. It's more like 2% of his audience.

[–]ClutchDude 0 ポイント1 ポイント  (0子コメント)

27% of Travis County - but there is a lot of "I dislike Hillary/Trump but I dislike Hillary/Trump more." on both sides of the vote.

[–]mymisplacedpants 14 ポイント15 ポイント  (12子コメント)

I'm confident they'll read the rooms and adjust properly. Yeah, it's tired material (like your Clinton/Soros rant) but they get feedback through laughs and non-laughs. I'm sorry you had a bad time. I'm sure a manager would've refunded you if you weren't enjoying the show.

[–]wedditasap[S] -5 ポイント-4 ポイント  (11子コメント)

Hardly a rant it was a sentence of clarification.

His joke is rooted in the fact that trump supporters are deplorable and amenable to being violent when it was psychos paid for by the other party that stirred up violence? How can you downplay that or skate over the significance of that? Media mind control

No refund needed. I have big boy pants and generally enjoyed the show (like I said it happens at every show as of recent , and that doesn't forbid me from wanting to get good commentary out of films). I'm just gathering consensus on this sub about how, people feel. Clearly everyone finds the original trump jokes a riot and I have no sense of humor. I stand corrected.

[–]mymisplacedpants 5 ポイント6 ポイント  (1子コメント)

I was trying to be empathetic. I'll concede the semantics of the word "rant" not being best at describing the details you provided. My general take is that they throw out a ton of jokes and they either hit or they land. If the question is whether jokes about Trump are found to be funny then I'd say yes. Obviously that's a matter of opinion but if you're looking for nuance and fact checking in Master Pancake jokes, then that's not going to happen. I'm glad this didn't put you off to that experience entirely and your expectation that this may continue still doesn't deter you. If you can accept that this is still some people's bag then I will accept and be mindful that it's tiring to others.

[–]wedditasap[S] 1 ポイント2 ポイント  (0子コメント)

This seems fair

and by the way

I totally accept that trump can and will get ripped on. It's expected, I didn't crawl from underneath a rock. Lots of people are pissed or disappointed from all sides and anxious and blah blah. Like I said I have big boy pants. It's the trump rally comment that really baffles me and seems to alienate the crowd and was ineffective comedically last night in my showing. And has been in my experience but the 7 o'clock show felt differently apparently.

Hollywood inconsistencies

.... You realize that is Donald Trump's schtick? 100% of his campaign? He is the very definition of "Hollywood inconsistencies".

Look, I'm tired of people nagging on Trump. He's a complete piece of shit, but it's gotten old. But, if you don't like it anymore... then why do you keep going? Besides, you better get used to it, because Trump is going to be the major source of jokes for comedians for the next 4 years... which is what usually happens with presidents. It's nothing new.

I didn't know that you were going to make Trump jokes at your little crappy ass show.

It was too fucking dark in that place for me to read the room.

So excuse me for wanting no Trump jokes in USA

TRUMPNITED STATES OF AMERICA

I was not AWARE that I would hear Trump jokes in your theater.

All right?

I've been to all the other theaters in Austin and no one ever gave a fuck about who me - I voted for in this election.

All right?

My opinion was on SILENT.

It watn't on LOUD it wasn't BOTHERING anybody.

You guys, obviously, were being assholes to ME.

AND I'M SURE THAT'S WHAT YOU DO YOU KNOW TO RIP PEOPLE OFF YOU TAKE MY MONEY...AND THEN YOU TALK ABOUT TRUMP.

You know? I will never be (fuck Trump) comin' back to your 'Master Pancake Theater' or whatever. I'd rather go to a reglear theater, where people actually voted for Trump.

Anint you know? I'm gonna tell REDDIT about how SHITTY you are.

Maybe (now here me out) the MP comedy guys don't care about alienating Trump supporters in Austin because they know their shows will sell out regardless.

And maybe, just maybe, that's ok because 1) 1st amendment 2) it's good for business.

Have you considered boycotting Target? Also Franks. I hear they're real crooked Hillary supporters over there.

[–]wedditasap[S] -2 ポイント-1 ポイント  (3子コメント)

..But I have no intention of boycotting MP or starting any movements?

For arguments sake target and Frank's don't blast over the PA "let's be civil and enjoy eating and shopping here folks were not looking to be the next trump rally" I might feel off put for having no intentions of emulating a criminal and being a violent psychopath fueled by bigotry/hatred/irrationality but being treated like one. Even with a just kidding at the end.

I've also said I respect their right to say whatever they want both in my heart and according to the constitution. They're generally hilarious dudes nobody can strike 100 percent of the time with laughs. And yes so is John. But If he can be critical of president elect repeatedly and with no context and diminishing laughs, I can be critical of him. Hell, maybe it will even help him, to freshen things up. Maybe he'll continue to rant about trump but In a way We haven't anticipated. He is a public comedian and subjects himself/opens himself up to the opinion of the public . Attempts to want to silence me expressing my opinion is purely fascist and mind boggling

My criticism starts and ends with this thread. Not only will I not boycott I will pay because I don't want John to overlook my general praise I have of him, his MP, and his humor and astute observationalist nature, assuming he cares about how I personally feel and vote on a day to day basis, which is with my wallet for things I see merit in and support as a relatively powerless private citizen.... In addition to the selfishly fulfilling experience of,laughing my ass off about Hollywood oddities.

In fact I'll probably attend the next MP I can. I enjoy the shit out of them by in large.

[–]obrazovanshchina 4 ポイント5 ポイント  (2子コメント)

That's awesome! Enjoy. And of course you can be critical of anything you want. Don't like puppies? No worries! Reddit most likely has an anti-puppy thread. You can post to your hearts content! MP has their venue to air their opinions and here you have yours. Go crazy!
