My idea is very simple. If any user is banned from any subreddit for trolling or spamming (not for divergent opinions), this information appears in "moderator's blacklist" info. This way you can easily know if any new subscriber will give you problems on your subreddit too. The more bans the user has shown, the more suspicious you can become. Anybody else want to back up this idea?

Submitted by Conspirologist, with -100 comment karma. With your proposed change you wouldn't last a second in most subreddits, why would you suggest this?

All you do is call people oligophrenic, retarded or claim they have ADHD... We should petition to have you banned from Reddit.
    [–]Conspirologist/r/Conspirology[S] -3 points-2 points-1 points  (6 children)
Oh la la, me oligophrenic, me so butthurt.
    [–]tjb1 4 points5 points6 points  (5 children)
Yep exactly, you're the cancer of Reddit.

Ohh, me some important nerdish loser. Me post on Reddit.

Your tinfoil is a little too tight or is that your fedora?

You just pray to never cross me on the street, beta nerd.
    [–]tjb1 2 points3 points4 points  (1 child)
Well you'd have to leave your parents basement for that to happen.
    [–]Conspirologist/r/Conspirology[S] -1 points0 points1 point  (0 children)
Ohh, the beta nerd is trying to delusion himself to stay calm.

I had the most karma on /r/ideasfortheadmins (or was at least top 3) when I was banned. I was not given a reason or had broken any sidebar rules.
I hadn't broken any sidebar rules on /r/awwnime when I was banned. I was not given a reason. My modmail asking to reverse the ban went completely ignored. Someone who was trolling me on that sub still has posting privileges, BTW.
I got banned from a bunch of subs in the imaginary network because I didn't use the exact title that the artist used (again, this rule was nowhere on the sidebar or anywhere else). When I contacted the mod and tried to explain that there are some subs that encourage the exact opposite -- making up titles -- my temporary ban in that sub became a permanent ban in that sub and several I've never even heard of before.
I'm banned from /r/offmychest because a subreddit I mod was raided by a subreddit I haven't heard of before and I went over there to address concerns they might have and explain what kind of sub I was moderating.
I got a temp ban from /modhelp (of all places) because I did something an admin themselves did--made a subreddit for someone who didn't have the karma requirement (and stayed on the list as top mod to prevent any hijinks). This is also nowhere on their sidebar, BTW.
I'm banned from /r/anime because I tried to make a meta sub for them and they apparently were going to do that themselves, which I obviously had no way of knowing.
TL;DR fuck everything about the above and about your idea.

TL;DR fuck everything ... about your idea.

anybody who thinks it's ok to use "blacklists" is cancer and should never be a moderator
whoever thinks that kind of 'blacklist' will never be abused, that it will never be used by other mods as a basis to preemptively ban users is a fool.
this would be no different than the bot some subs use to ban any user who it sees made a post to a subreddit on their 'bad' list.. I think any sub that does this should be banned and all their mods kicked off Reddit.
    [–]nope_nic_tesla 1 point2 points3 points  (1 child)
    this will be abused
    . . .
also, people who do things I disagree with should be banned from the whole site
    lol
    [–]r1243/r/translation 1 point2 points3 points  (0 children)
that's literally the concept of using the bot to ban people who post in certain subs
    [–]strolls 3 points4 points5 points  (0 children)
Permanent bans suck - I'd go so far as to say it should be impossible for mods to ban someone for more than a year.
You have a misunderstanding, the mods block you and there's no appeal.
I can understand the frustration of being a mod and a load of assholes causing harassment, but it's too easy to take that out on someone innocent by mistake.
    [–]TelicAstraeus/r/posireddit 0 points1 point2 points  (0 children)
There should be a big red B for these users. We'll call it the Scarlet Letter.
    [–]nope_nic_tesla -5 points-4 points-3 points  (4 children)
I think it's a good idea. It would definitely make it easier for me as a moderator if I suspect someone of trolling and can see they've been banned by a bunch of other subs for trolling already.
    [–]Conspirologist/r/Conspirology[S] -4 points-3 points-2 points  (3 children)
The only problem is that a lot of forums are moderated by retards of any kind. All the bans must be linked to the guilty posts as proof.
    [–]nope_nic_tesla -4 points-3 points-2 points  (2 children)
Would be pretty trivial to require any submission to have a link to the offending comment

You obviously have no clue about what is going on Reddit.
