Russian Support for Trump:
Trump’s behavior, however, has at times concerned the Russians, leading them to revise their hacking and disinformation strategy. For example, when Trump launched into an inexplicable attack on the parents of a Muslim-American soldier who died in combat, the Kremlin assumed the Republican nominee was showing himself psychologically unfit to be president and would be forced by his party to withdraw from the race. As a result, Moscow put its hacking campaign temporarily on hold, ending the distribution of documents until Trump stabilized, both personally and in the polls, according to reports.

During Campaign:
“A senior U.S. intelligence official assured that cybersecurity and the Russian government's attempts to interfere in the 2016 election have been briefed to, and discussed extensively with, both parties' candidates.... ‘To profess not to know at this point is willful misrepresentation,’ said the official. ‘The intelligence community has walked a very thin line in not taking sides, but both candidates have all the information they need to be crystal clear.’”

Russian Hacking of Election Itself
Confirmed Hacks Before Election:
FBI issued an unprecedented warning to state election officials urging them to be on the lookout for intrusions into their election systems and to take steps to upgrade security measures across the voting process, including voter registration, voter rolls and election-related websites. The confidential “flash” alert said investigators had detected attempts to penetrate election systems in several states.
Hacking of the Election Itself (Unconfirmed/Speculative):
...attackers would probe election offices in advance to find ways to break into computers. Closer to election, when it was clear from polling which states would have close margins, the attackers might spread malware into machines in some of these states, rigging machines to shift a few % of the vote to favor desired candidate. This malware would likely be designed to remain inactive during preelection tests, do its dirty business during election, then erase itself when polls close. A skilled attacker’s work might leave no visible signs though the country might be surprised when results in several close states were off from preelection polls.
Latest:
The vendor hack in Florida prompted the FBI last week to coordinate an emergency call with county election supervisors who operate the election system...
... machine targeted by Cylance is used by some voting precincts in potential presidential swing states Florida, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Nevada, and Wisconsin.

this laziness is why the Trump/Russia theories never got enough steam. look at the other side: they're willing to dig through tens of thousands of emails full of stuff like risotto tips and pool parties to attack Clinton.
[–]WoodWhacker 32 points33 points34 points  (0 children)
This is what the people scrolling by are thinking, and it was intended as a joke. If someone reads it all, good on them. I took a look at a few. Some is legit evidence, some is speculation. I might come back to it later, but that's a lot for one sitting.
[–]JaXXXuP 3 points4 points5 points  (0 children)
I guess it is the Democrats turn to come up with all the conspiracy theories this time around.
[–]hillarysidiot 1 point2 points3 points  (0 children)
I also urge you to look into The Perestroika Deception. An interesting video about it, from 2003, can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhZHJhSjN8w

no it's not laziness it's because there is nothing between Trump and Russia, for anyone reading this please just read the first few links under 'Russian Connections to Trump Team' this guy has and judge for yourself, some other people on this thread talk about fake news, well this is a perfect example of why no one trusts the media.
[–]roxasaur 30 points31 points32 points  (11 children)
Thanks for compiling all this content.
[–]mafuuuba 15 points16 points17 points  (10 children)
All the material I compiled is at least 1 week old. Needless to say, now you have the CIA coming out to say Russia is helping Trump.
There's also something I missed, which is this from back in September:
This confirms that the FBI knows and they've briefed Congress on it. Apparently, McCaul wasn't supposed to mention that part about the RNC being hacked too, so it was quickly walked back after that and buried. He later said he "misspoke", but make no mistake, he very explicitly says, "The Republican National Committe was hacked..." in the interview.
Now the cat is out of the bag for real:
They based that conclusion, in part, on another finding — which they say was also reached with high confidence — that the Russians hacked the Republican National Committee’s computer systems in addition to their attacks on Democratic organizations, but did not release whatever information they gleaned from the Republican networks.
[–]nestnestnest [score hidden]  (0 children)
Thank you for doing this. Why don't media companies do more summaries like this?
[–]AemArr -4 points-3 points-2 points  (8 children)
The F.B.I. also investigated possible ties between Trump and Russia and found nothing.
Edit: You post to rpolitics and ETS so I am not surprised you are disappointed with the election results and peddling conspiracy theories to question the results.
[–]lumpyfruit69 4 points5 points6 points  (7 children)
I'm someone far more sympathetic to Trump supporters than most, but the volume of information coming out suggesting foreign involvement of some kind in the election results is at the very least highly concerning.
[–]AemArr -3 points-2 points-1 points  (6 children)
The "foreign involvement" that is anywhere close to proven, and by close I mean not very, is that someone foreign may have hacked the DNC and that is where we got the emails released at the start of the Democratic convention. Even that has not been definitively proven nor has foreign involvement been proven in WikiLeaks obtainment of John Podesta's emails.
Here's the thing, even if a foreign government, specifically Russia, was responsible for WikiLeaks obtaining the DNC and Podesta emails, so what? All the emails are real. All of the shady shit being done in the emails happened. You said you were sympathetic to Trump supporters, well I supported Bernie Sanders, and to me, all the Democrats are doing is whining that the Russians rigged the election by exposing how the Democrats rigged their primary election.
[–]Wakkajabba 1 point2 points3 points  (1 child)
Here's the thing, even if a foreign government, specifically Russia, was responsible for WikiLeaks obtaining the DNC and Podesta emails, so what?
Really? You don't see a problem with that?
[–]AemArr 2 points3 points4 points  (0 children)
Did you just ignore the second half of what I wrote?
All of the shady shit being done in the emails happened.
all the Democrats are doing is whining that the Russians rigged the election by exposing how the Democrats rigged their primary election.
If it is Russia(which has not been conclusively proven) that exposed wrongdoing by the Democrats, or Argentina, or some random hacker, or a DNC insider, it does not matter because it does not change the fact the Democrats actually committed wrongdoing. The Democrats are not sorry for all the horrible things they did, they are just sorry that they got caught.
[–]AllOfTheDerp 0 points1 point2 points  (3 children)
Yes, the leaks showed these things. But it is also true that, even though the RNC was hacked, we never saw what the hacks uncovered. I'm sure you're also very interested in what those hacks contain, I know I am.
[–]AemArr 0 points1 point2 points  (2 children)
I don't believe it has been proven that there was a successful hack on the RNC. I hate citing CNN but. Assuming there was a hack on the RNC, and assuming it was successful, and assuming the hackers got access to RNC internal communications, specifically of top officials, I believe we would see a lot of officials bad-mouthing Trump and lamenting their situation. Reince Priebus was neutral, but other RNC officials, Sean Spicer included, tried to be as bearish as possible on Trump winning. They all flipped like quarters as soon as Trump became the nominee though.
[–]AllOfTheDerp 0 points1 point2 points  (1 child)
Truthfully, I'd like to be better informed about this whole thing, but there is this. I'm not sure where this falls on the timeline vs that article, but this representative pretty fervently believes the RNC was hacked as well https://youtu.be/NVlwwmXT-cI
Edit: the article you linked was well after the video I linked you
Last edit to summarize: So the chairman of the Homeland Security Council claimed in September that the RNC was in fact hacked, but yesterday the RNC Comms director claimed that reports of an RNC hack are false.
[–]AemArr 2 points3 points4 points  (0 children)
I'm not completely sure what went on with the RNC either, these are just the different claims. This whole situation with the CIA/Russia thing is so difficult to parse because it all deals with anonymous and unverified sources and untrustworthy media.
[–]DrMussintouchit 13 points14 points15 points  (0 children)
It was not 17 different agencies .... the head of 17 agenies said it. They all did not investigate.

The CIA recently struck a $600 million dollar deal with WaPo. If this doesn't sound like KGB style propaganda methods then I don't know what does.
[–]Sregor_Nevets -1 points0 points1 point  (2 children)
This is utter bullshit!! Washington Post? You are joking. It is so obviously biased I could begin to think of it as anything more than a megaphone of anti trump rhetoric.
[–]hiero_ 3 points4 points5 points  (0 children)
Have you ever stopped to consider that maybe there is so much anti-Trump rhetoric because of how fucking difficult it is to not be anti-Trump? He is so consistently full of utter shit and says the most irrational and reactionary things. That's not even a biased statement, either. It's a fact. Please take note of how these same media outlets have never given a Republican candidate so much shit as they have for Trump, and here's a hint, it has nothing to do with him being "an outsider". It's because he is full of shit, and he knows it.
"All I know is what I read on the internet" - Trump
Get educated. Stop believing shit you read without real sources.
[–]Tall_Breeze 1 point2 points3 points  (0 children)
Donald Trump is legitimately god damned fucking awful in a lot of very real ways. It is very, very fucking easy to be anti-Trump.

Yes it is the new Fake news and now former prestigious news, just like New York Times lost their "prestigiousness/merit" when they got bought by Mr. Carlos Slim. Washington Post got bought out in 2013 by Jeff Bezos, who got butt hurt when Trump questioned his ownership calling it his toy and tool for political power. It's true, he has more consumer information then just about anybody on the planet as well as more money then anyone but maybe three people. Go ahead and label it "prestigious", because that is the most dangerous thing you can call a News/media company

Thats how President Elect Trump decides to convey his messages. Horrible how he doesn't give the MSM the messages and have them spin/distribute it...
[–]Diarygirl 6 points7 points8 points  (0 children)
He could have a live press conference, and sure, the media could spin it afterwards, and I have to say this since you're paranoid, no one can doctor a live press conference.
Unless he does that, which he won't because he's afraid to, the media will have plenty of time to investigate things like this.
[–]storm_the_castle 5 points6 points7 points  (4 children)

If podesta hadn't used "runner 4567" for his password, used two-factor authentification after he knew he was hacked, and Hillary had used something with a minimum of security (like a gmail acc) this wouldn't have been a problem.
Given how high target Hillary is, and how completely unsecured her emails were, we can assume every country with a mid sized intelligence agency has her emails. It could be anyone.
[–]Soncassder -1 points0 points1 point  (2 children)
