literally this

I've posted this comment before about lying, and I think it's relevant again here:

Excessive use of details (or dramatization) is actually a huge indicator of when someone is lying. Since they know they are lying, they further embellish unnecessary details in order to seem more credible.

Someone who is telling the truth would simply state the fact, because it is the truth.

When I'm trying to give an account of something that happened, I try to pick out the funniest details to make it interesting. I also avoid giving an account of anything unless I think it's exceptional. But then they sound like unlikely bullshit so I am probably doing it wrong and need to talk about more of my daily boring life on Facebook.

I think that happens to a lot of us but people don't like to admit it.

Asked Siri "Siri I dropped you in the toilet what do I do?"

"Who me?"

Fake as shit

To get the same response, you have to drop your phone in water first.

  1. This story is %100$ real, do you even know what subreddit this is?
  2. Because this story is %100$ real, clearly Siri got water stuck in the speaker and misheard what mama said

Getting your phone wet wouldn't make Siri act super le random, though

No, but it could get the mic wet which could cause Siri to mishear.

Sounds like a reasonable answer to "What do I do" though

Have you ever tried to hear what somebody said while you were underwater? Not saying this story is 100% true but Siri 100% did not hear her correctly because of that reason.

Welcome to /r/thatHappened, where if the post simply sounds cringy enough it makes it to the front page regardless of if it belongs in this sub

TBH if that actually happened to me I'd react about the same way. I tend to overreact to anything remotely funny. That said, I'm fairly sure it wouldn't have been possible to hear Siri from underwater.

The older I get, the more I look at these Tumblr posts and seriously start to pin down the ages of the culprits of this story. My guess for this one? 13 years old, maximum.

Your right somewhat, which is why I don't always hate them because any teenager who had a myspace or internet access knows they posted or looked at questionable shit. The sad part is realizing that a somewhat large portion of users are actually adults. That Shit is perturbing and troubling

Unfortunately, that's doubtful. I know 20 year olds from uni who tweet like this and, if i followed their tumblr, presumably also post on there like this so their ages are $100% unguESSABLE OMG 👌😂

I feel like shit. I'm upset. I actually laughed at this and I hate myself for it, because Tumblr, but God dammit that was a funny visual

you cant laugh at something because its on Tumblr?

Is this supposed to be thought of as what really happened? A lot of the stuff here is so obviously fake that it feels like they're supposed to feel fake.

I don't even understand why this is supposed to be r/thathappened. There's nothing crazy or unlikely happening here. When you ask Siri "What do I have to do" she replies with what's on your calendar. And whenever I've dropped a phone in water it's good for 10-15 seconds afterwards. Probably more if she had some kind of case on it.

I could see this would be r/thathappened material if she claimed Siri said something about the warranty or water damage, but this seems like a perfectly reasonable course of events.

Romeo and Juliet: A girl's family tries to force her into a marriage she doesn't want, so she takes a sleeping potion and fakes her own death. However, her secret lover doesn't receive the message that she was faking death, so he thinks she is really dead and goes to her tomb then kills himself. She wakes up to find him dead and also commits suicide, because she can't bear the thought of living without him.

Tumblr Story: Someone's mum drops her phone in the toilet and it breaks.

more dramatic than Romeo and Juliet!!!1!1!!!2!!

This is a stupid thing to nitpick about the story. The reply is clearly sarcastic.

I can't even why people would have a phone without a removeable battery. Steps to take when electronics get wet to have a decent chance of salvaging:

    1. Remove power immediately.
    2. Rinse thoroughly if it was anything dirtier than tapwater.
    3. Dry for at least 24 hours with some decent warm air convection.

    Pretty good story at least.

Seriously though if this happens pull it out of there as quickly as possible, dry it with a clean towel, and if you still get problems (iphones tend to have issues with the touchid abd the home button with water) get one of those car dehumidifer pillow things, chuck the pillow on the radiator and leave the phone on the pillow for 20 minutes, occasionally stopping to shake the liquid out of it.

It'll feel dirty in your head forever but you can get your phone working again after getting it wet.

The likelihood of me pulling my phone from the toilet depends on whether it fell in there pre or post flush
