GOP senator: Russian hacking 'hardly news'

“All this ‘news’ of Russian hacking: it has been going on for years. Serious, but hardly news,” Cornyn wrote on Twitter.

The senator followed up on the tweet, citing a book by former CIA director, retired Gen. Michael Hayden.

“A good source on this is Michael Hayden's book: Playing to the Edge, American Intelligence in the Age of Terror,” Cornyn added.

Cornyn also appeared to support a tweet from Sen. The New York Times also reported Friday that Russian-backed hackers breached the Republican National Committee in addition to the Democratic National Committee, but only released documents from the DNC.

The Trump campaign dismissed the reports late Friday.
