Who are the stars?
United’s ‘big three’ for this squad are Tahith Chong, Callum Gribbin, and Angel Gomes. With all three playing attacking midfield and winger roles, expect to see all three starting and linking up constantly. Other youngsters such as Indy Boonen will be in action too.
Tahith Chong is a recent addition to the United setup, signing from Feyenoord in July 2016. The 17 year old’s primary position is left winger and is already playing internationally at the Under-19 level with four appearances for the Netherlands squad. He has been in good form for the Under-18s with three goals and six assists in 11 appearances.

Angel Gomes also joined Chong in the United setup in July 2016 but has grown up through the academy. Gomes has the United DNA with his Uncle being former United star Nani. He has been in great form for the Under-18s with 11 goals and 12 assists in 23 appearances. However, the Englishman is only 16 years old.

Callum Gribbin is another academy graduate like Gomes and was born and raised in Salford. The 17 year old isn’t new to the scene however, being in the U18 setup for two seasons already and is into his third. In 51 appearances in three years Gribbin has grabbed 15 goals and 10 assists.

What to expect
United’s youth boss Kieran Mckenna is the man behind this team and also hopes to add to United’s record leading amount of F.A Youth Cup titles with 10 already.
Therefore, McKenna had this to say about the new squad:
“We played at Spurs against United in pre-season and I could see there were a few talented players in there, for me it really is about trying to keep some of that excitement down.”
The first round for United is against Southampton on Monday, December 12 at 7:00 p.m GMT.
