That's because you confuse sex with gender. A person cannot pick their sex but gender is entirely socially constructed and right now only in parts defined through biological criteria. Once that definition changes (we're partially in the process of it right now) you might very well be able to choose a gender at will and it will be socially acceptable.

e: Just to clarify, your gender identity, what gender you identify with of course is also at least in parts of biological nature. I'm not too educated on this, I grasp the basics but that's about it and it's generally not very well understood, but a trans person for example does not simply "choose" their gender and truly differs in their brain structure and activities from people that are comfortable with their respective gender identity.

Just be glad we live in a time or place where food and shelter is abundant enough that people have time to question their gender roles instead of having to try to spear lions out to eat them or tending to crops that could be wiped out in a storm.

Direct definition: the state of being male or female (typically used with reference to social and cultural differences rather than biological ones).

So I guess you can claim to be a gender female while being a sexual male. Which is odd, I always thought gender referred to biological sex but I was wrong.

Nonetheless, it's seems dilly to me to identify as anything other than a male or female. Identifying as a wolf or 100 year old black woman (unless you are one of those ) is stupid, but heck I won't judge.

Now saying that my white privilege inherently makes me racist really grinds my gears. My house only has 3 stories and 8 bedrooms and I only maken 3 million dollars a year like all white people

If somebody believes there are actually more than two genders, then I'd argue that they have a mental illness. There is male and female. Nothing less, nothing more. Now, you may identify as something else entirely, but at the end of the day, you are either male or female. Excluding, of course, the unlikely few who are born with both sex organs. Then I'd argue that you're both. But at the end of all that discussion, there are still only two genders.
