Yeah. People against pits like to use the fatality statistics as though they are occurrence statistics all while combining the numbers for 5 or 6 different breeds and calling them all pit bulls.
Chihuahuas are one of the highest biters by frequency but no one really cares since they rarely if ever kill anyone with their bite.

Exactly. What defines a pit bull? American Staffordshire Terriers? Any bully breed? Or are we just lumping a bunch of dogs together and calling them all "pit bulls"?

American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, American Bully, and Staffordshire Bull Terrier are pitbulls. It's fine to lump them together and discriminate them because THEY ARE DOGS YOU CAN JUST GET ANOTHER STATISTICALLY LESS DANGEROUS DOG. They all look similar so it's hard to tell which is which but if you somehow could prove one was less dangerous I'd be fine with that breed

Again, aggressiveness doesn't matter, likeliness to cause injury or death does. I don't like chihuahuas but I don't think they're dangerous

They're definitely dangerous. I've had multiple dogs injured by chihuahas/dachshunds/terriers. Just because they cant rip the throat off a fully grown man doesn't mean they're not dangerous

Chihuahuas do cause injury especially with small children. The statistics typically cited are for fatality only and not injury and fatality. Also, again, lumping 5 or 6 breeds together and trying to pass it off as one breed causing all the dog bite fatalities is bullshit.

Well they use just as many statistics to dispel the myth of the over aggressive pit. I agree with the race thing as unnecessary and stupid as all get out but don't say that pits are any more aggressive than any other dog. Dalmatians and Chihuahuas are some of the most highly aggressive dogs on the planet but people still think they're less aggressive than pit bulls

Statistically pitbulls are the most lethal and most likely to cause great injury. Temperament doesn't matter it just takes one freakout to hurt someone. In fact their overall nice temperament probably makes them worse because people are less careful around them

So if one pit goes his whole life without ever biting someone, gets freaked out and bites and seriously injures someone, its a more aggressive breed than a Chihuahua that constantly snaps and barks and tries to hurt but only doesn't because of its size?

Batten down the hatches, OP. This is one of those topics that makes people frothingly angry on both sides of the argument.
