But, goddamn it, why are white people allowed to run the fucking internet? This is NOT how it was supposed to be!

I distinctly remember all the bullshit people bandied about during the 1990's about how the Internet would erase prejudices and bring people together!

Same thing as real life: the Internet is just the real world online, and just as in the real world, minority voices get shouted down and violently repressed.

This is pretty much one of the things academics say when it comes to the utopian promises of the past. Internet 2.0 was a mistake.
