But... but his opinion was different from mine!

It's really amazing OP managed to get into university after clearly failing kindergarten. Their extracurriculars must have been stellar!

No possible way for us to know. He could have medical damages and sue you for them. He could later choose to file a police report. Those are both up to him.

You should probably attend some anger management classes if seeing an opinion you don't like causes you to physically attack people.

If he has any related medical expenses, he can come after you for them.

He can make a report with the police, but it is unlikely the DA would press charges in such a minor case. Could they? Yes. If served, get a lawyer. Don't talk to the police without counsel present, etc.

as i passed by this one jerk

It's not jerk-ish to exercise your freedom to express your opinion, even if it is a crappy one.
It is jerk-ish to kick people who are peacefully protesting.
There's only one jerk here, and it was not the guy with the pamphlet.

We have no way of knowing. Deal with it and keep your temper in check instead of physically lashing out at people.

You could be sued civilly for any damage you caused.

I hope this person sues you six ways from Sunday.

Good luck!

So I kicked a guy.

SO.. today on my campus there were anti-lgbt protestors. They weren't really doing anything (other than playing the bagpipes and chanting) but it's near finals week and I got pissed and stressed out and as i passed by this one jerk he tried to hand me his dumb pamphlet I kicked him in the leg without thinking. It wasn't that hard of a kick because I'm like 5'4 and 110lbs. I thought I could just kinda disappear afterwards but lucky me the fucking chief of campus police was right there. I apologized and cooperated and all that shit and gave him my number. He called me about an hour ago and told me that the guy wasn't going to press the matter, which is great, but now I'm stressed out that the asshole will change his mind or something. Everyone's kinda pissed at me (including me. Idk why I did that. I wasn't thinking clearly.) and not really in the mood to reassure me. I'm just wondering what you guys think, am I really in the clear here? I've never been in trouble for anything before ever, so needless to say I'm a little freaked out. Thanks in advance. Tl;dr- I kicked a bigot in the shin like an idiot in front of campus police and am now freaked out.

You assaulted someone, unprovoked, and if you were anywhere else than a university you'd probably be sitting in a jail cell.
