Right? Running TW3 on max settings (minus Hairworks) at 75~ FPS in outdoor areas and cities, and 110 in some closed areas.

Meanwhile anything by Bethesda doesn't look half as good and runs half as well.

I enjoyed New Vegas (didn't play enough 3) quite a bit, but Fallout 4 seems like it removed most of the appeal of a Bethesda role-playing game.

its a fun shoot&loot game but thats it. Few interesting NPCs + shitty dialogue "wheel" = disaster

For your interest, Fallout NV is an Obsidian game not a Bethesda one. Obsidian often makes interesting stories and NPCs.

The fucking story was ridiculous and questing was so bland. I mean if you didn't play witcher 3, fallout 4 would be fine. But trying to play fallout4 after witcher 3 is impossible.

What killed it for me was the player character voice acting and the preset story for them. War vet? Family man/woman? Really killed that "be whoever you want" thing that was the whole charm of Elder Scrolls and Fallout games.

I feel that heavily in skyrim. I like that your character has no voice. Bethesda should follow that for their next games or actually make some interesting characters if they want voice acting.

"Game devs" as in studios that develop games or the individuals working for those studios?

I'm pretty sure there are developers in every team who would love to be more like CDPR. It's just usually not up to them.

Also, there's bound to be people working at CDPR who don't particularly care about the works they're contributing to. Although most of them probably are interested in games, since game development is definitely not the most lucrative field of work for programmers; and the same probably holds true for graphics artists, writers, etc. involved in making games.

I thought that it was because the means to create and drive such content has largely only proliferated in more recent years... so considering that, as well as the development time and funding throughout that's necessary, I'd say it's more likely due to that, and the lack of >$80,000,000 it took to make W3 [look so good]... and also that the Witcher 3 is the Witcher 3

My 1070 arrives tomorrow. My previous machine/card was one with a 9600GT.

I own Witcher 2 and 3, both Collector's Editions, since day 1.

Now I finally get to play them.

If you haven't checked it out, Shadow of Mordor was a favorite single player experience of mine. It was surprisingly good.

There's also the Dark Souls trilogy if you like punishment, another series I'm a huge fan of.

I just started playing Witcher 3 for the first time last week. Been on my list forever, and a recent CPU upgrade made it seem like the perfect time.

About an hour into the game, I had to stop and admire the trees. They were swaying in the breeze, properly. It's the first time I've seen in game where trees actually move properly in a strong wind. Yeah lots of games have rustling leaves - that's been around forever - but this is the first I've seen where the trunk actually bends modestly at the base, more so at the top, and looks like a true in the wind. Just beautiful.

One of those features that I never noticed was missing until now, and going forward I'll never be unable to not notice it if it's gone.

That's what really gets me about this game. The screenshots I saw looked great, but not quite mind-blowing. But actually playing it, the world seems alive more than any other game I've experienced. What really impressed me was the grass, there's not a flat grass texture anywhere.

Many people have that problem, me included :D

After finishing everything in the Witcher Saga for at least 2 times, I couldn't find a game that felt as good (story and Gameplay wise) as Witcher 3 :-(

I played the Bioshock Trilogy for the first time a while ago and only these games were coming close to that experience, nothing else though...

I really liked BioShock Infinite, but I felt like the gameplay betrayed the setting and story. Like the story would have been told best as a sort of mystery puzzler Noire game. That said, it played well as a shooter. Just a side thought.

OMG I know. I recently picked up a 1440p monitor and started playing witcher again and dear lord its like a new game just going from 1080p to 1440p honestly. Started finally playing the expansions and started on Hearts of Stone. OMG the story telling alone is leagues beyond most games.

I went with a 1080p 144hz display. And yeah, I actually recently finished the main story for Hearts of Stone myself. Got me a set of Viper Armor and am now working on the scavenger hunts and such before I go and get Blood & Wine.

The Viper Venomous Silver Sword is only available if you pursue the "good ending" in Hearts of Stone's main quest, near the end in a certain area you can't return to afterward. I can tell you more if you like.

It's closer to the end. When you get the option to go speak with Shani before meeting Olgierd after finishing in the painted realm, go do it and follow what she says before speaking with Olgierd.

I went up from a 970 recently. I could play it at mostly high but with most of the post-processing options turned down, and the framerate was much lower.

Averages about $400US. I got the MSI Aero blower model. I really like each blower card I've gotten so far, they always seem so quiet.

Don't blower style coolers run slightly hotter?

I do see how it would be benificial in an multi-gpu setup, but if you are running a single card isn't it better to get a 'regular' cooled card?

I've never really monitored temperatures but I haven't had any issues come up from it before. Nothing that would indicate temp issues anyway.

TW3 is such a good game! Probably my favorite of all time now. I'm playing through it for a 3rd time with some graphics mods that manage to keep both of my 1080s at high usage at 1440p, which is saying something. One of the mods adds 3 steps up above ultra in the in game graphics settings and it's glorious!

I love how CDProjektRed has shown that the piracy argument doesn't hold up at all. if you make a good game, you don't have to prevent people from pirating it.

I was talking to a friend about this the other day. It's gotten to the point where DRM has just made things less convenient even for people who paid for the game.

I pirated TW3 because it was easy. Two hours in I made a GOG account so I could give them money.

As far as looks go I think the one with Geralt's face is the one I find most impressing. I mean the types of environment in the game in general are very beautiful (especially with dawn/dusk) but as far as graphics alone I think that face textures really stood out for me.

Just did that top quest in Skellige yesterday! I think i too a screenshot too as I was coming down from the lighthouse over looking the islands.

Do you have any mods in your game? Yours seems way better looking than mine....and I'm running max settings on a GTX 1060. As a matter of fact... all screenshots i see of this game look better than mine. :(
